http://usconservatives.about.com/od...tting-Gun-Death-Statistics-In-Perspective.htm To hear gun control advocates speak, one would be led to believe that gun violence is a widespread problem whereby the mere existence of a gun is as much a problem as the person who intends to wield it. But the reality is that gun homicides are overwhelmingly tied to gang violence. In fact, a staggering 80% of gun homicides are gang-related. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), gang homicides accounted for roughly 8,900 of 11,100 gun murders in both 2010 and 2011. That means that there were just 2,200 non gang-related firearm murders in both years in a country of over 300 million people and 250 million guns.
Yes, and you gotta know those liberal loons believe in their souls that gangs and bad guys are going to register all of their weapons, it's the law! The stupidity/ignorance of anti-gun loons is absolutely maddening
I offered this hypothetical to other gun grabbers on other political forums; I am 6'2", 260 lbs. If I came at you with a bat raised to hit you, would you want a gun? The response is usually crickets.
http://www.politicalforum.com/curre...-california-lawmaker-legal-trouble-today.html This thread explains a lot.
Yep, instead of working hard to develop a culture of respect, kindness, and personal responsibility towards other people, the anti-gun loons would rather take or severely restrict those of us citizens that have those virtues, and they think those eliminations/restrictions are actually going to eradicate the violent criminals. It is absolutely insane to me how these people think
Actually, I think they are so (*)(*)(*)(*)ing ignorant of that option, they would rather try and talk down the assailant. Liberal bleeding heart judges across this nation will never truly enforce gun laws against bad guys, I think the law should be, if you use a gun for any reason other than to defend yourself, you should go to prison for life, no exceptions. Make our laws work against those who continually break them.
I suppose the correct response to such a threat would be: 1) Dial 911. 2) Assume fetal position on ground. 3) Pray someone nearby will protect me for 14.5 minutes until the police arrive.
Until the right begins to reclaim this nation, we'll have to suffer the stupidity, ignorance and danger the left has immersed us into. It takes time and patience as well as perseverance. Keep up the fight. - - - Updated - - - By then there will me a mound of ground beef for the coroner to pick up
Hmmm. I use my gun pretty much every day, and never once had draw it to defend myself, yet. I would have to propose some changes to your law.
A gun is pretty much like a winch on the front of a 4 wheel drive, it is the most money you will spend that you hope you never need. Having the option to defend yourself is galvanized in our 2nd amendment. Giving any leeway to those that continually break our laws with guns is why our nation suffers from the stigma of violence So what changes would you propose?
Well, just as an example, I currently use mine to punch holes in paper and other objects, and to shoot and kill pests on my property, two activities that would presumably jail me forever under your proposed law.
It's easy. The liberal horde thinks that you think like they do; You want to rape, pillage and steal all that you can carry and if they had a gun they would most likely kill a conservative who wants liberals to just leave them alone.
To hear a gun advocate speak, one would be led to believe that they are in a perpetual state of danger. I'm a car owner and not a car advocate. I'm a gun owner and not a gun advocate. One doesn't need to worship any object. Perceived value > utility = fetish.
I think you missed the "criminal" part of my post. There is nothing criminal about what you do. I would like the already existing laws to be enforced with severe penalties, if you don't break the law there is nothing to worry about. Kind of like it has always been until now
....and, unlike your winch analogy, proficiency in the safe handling and use of firearms requires (for me, at least) continuous practice and evaluation. If I need to use mine in a defensive situation, I want to be damn sure it is ready to go, and use of its functions and features are second-nature for me, and that I can hit what I need to on the first shot. One should not simply purchase a firearm and hope to never need it, as they would a winch.
Yeah, that's what I suspected you meant, however you said: ...the 'for any reason' and 'no exceptions' part threw me.
What? You now dismiss our high murder rate in the United States? Why would you be against enforcing the existing laws and adding more harshness to the perpetrators? Why do you want to eliminate or severely restrict those of us who abide by our gun laws? Do you actually think that by making more laws and restrictions you are going to reduce those that are intent on breaking them? - - - Updated - - - A hypothetical example, if a person uses a gun in a robbery, they would get life, no exceptions. I don't think this applies to you
The USA may have a high violent crime rate, but let's get real... the chances of you getting assaulted or killed today are almost nil. If only people without a criminal record and are mentally healthy can have guns, then you've got nothing to worry about, right?
Getting struck by lighting is a rare occurrence, but that doesn't mean I'm going to play golf in a thunderstorm. You still continue to want to restrict and punish responsible citizens, why?
