As was his right. Just as it will be Schumer's right if he is reelected as the Senate Majority Leader. I did not say one side is right, or that one side is wrong. I just gave a synopsis of what will happen over the next two years. Point in fact, prior to 2006, there was hardly any bill presented in Congress that did not have at least one co-sponsor from the opposition party. From 2006 on, it has been a us-against-them mentality in Congress. Any attempts to work across the aisle was squashed by DNC leadership. Political partisanship became business as Usual in Washington. The only way this country moves forward is by us electing people to leadership roles that are willing to work with the opposition party. So far, anyone that plays lip service about working across the aisle has become the party leadership's lapdogs when they got to Congress. One prime example is Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger. Every two year she runs on a platform of how she stands against her party leadership and works across the aisle. Yet, over the last four years, her entire time in Congress, she has voted against the wishes of Pelosi one time. And that was on an issue that didn't matter. Even with her vote, the opposition party did not have the votes to stop the bill from passing.

So to reiterate, we need political figures that do not put the will of the people ahead of the desires of their party leadership. Do you disagree with that?

Is this backwards? The will of the people should always come first.

Democrat doesn’t need illegal immigrant to became US citizen to vote for them. Democrats already have majority vote.

Republican lost popular vote 7 out of 8 Presidential elections because majority Americans rejected their policy. Fortunately for GOP, majority Americans lived in East and West coast and “Middle America” was all by herself for Republican rural voter, as a result republican could get 270 electoral college every now and then despite losing majority vote. But that is changing. More Democrats are migrating to RED State like GA or NV or NC and turning them swing state. On the other hand, older, reliable GOP voter from WI, MI, PA are migrating to FL and these Swing State bluer.

Young and collage graduate citizen don’t buy what GOP is selling, minority voters don’t buy GOP policy. Only thing GOP has today is “illegal immigrants taking over the country” to unite all the white voters to vote. But these older, reliable voters are shrinking. You can’t beat biology; another 10 years white population will decrease by 4%. GOP can’t even win mid-term election when inflation is 8%. How on earth you think they will win beyond 2028?

No, it has to do with the way the Electoral Collage works. Democrats pile up huge majorities in states like California, New York and Illinois. It's useless for Republicans to spend presidential campaign money there, a majority of the voters in those states are totally close minded and will never change.

Yea, I was young and somewhat liberal like you when graduated from college, and then I learned the score. I worked for McGovern in 1972 and Carter in 1976. Then I saw the light in 1980 and have never looked back.

It would impossible to change you mind now because college has indoctrinated you. After you have worked for a while, you might see things differently. The answer to the world's problems can't be solved by a giant, all powerful government.

Abortion and student loans turned out the youth vote. At least one of those things was avoidable by the GOP. They shouldn't jumped on the bandwagon and gotten that student loan thing through congress and out the door before september. They also could have enacted a federal right to abortion law I suppose. Oh well. The red wave is now a historical wet spot.

Does it matter how the Electoral college works? Point is majority American regardless of where they live vote Democrat. They may live in NY, CA , IL or NJ. majority American vote Democrat. Only reason GOP won election in 2000, 2016 because of Electoral College. Now, many people are moving out of NY or CA to GA or NC which is making these reliable RED state blue and there not enough GOP voter out there. GOP can’t bring new voter. Every election GOP voter are shrinking.

Of course collage indoctrinate student. There is no point going to collage if you are not indoctrinated. The reason you don’t like collage any more because they don’t teach 17th century education.

You worked for McGovern in 1972 and Carter in 1976, because back then to you their policy made sense. Democrats moved from 20th century to 21st century and adopted new policy. You don’t like them because you think the policy what worked in 1972 or 1976 will work in 2022. World moved on , but you and GOP still living in 1970s.

"Indoctrination" is not why you go to college. You go there to get an education on some basic information in a specific discipline. Beyond that, you learn to think critically and draw conclusions that might not square with the orthodoxy. Anyone who gets a college education and then thinks they have it made is a loser in my opinion. College is the base. You keep studying your chosen other disciplines from there.

I am pro-choice to an extent far beyond most conservatives. I do not support late term abortions, and would have to align with the conservatives if that what the far left forces us to do. I am not in love with the military and firmly believe in civilian control of it. The police have a tough job to do, buy don’t deserve a blank check for every action they take.

Schools and opportunities should be improved for minority and all students including training in the trades. No child should be forced to go to a substandard school. There should be school choice for those to opt out of they choose to do so. The teachers’ unions should not hold a monopoly on education.

College educations have become over emphasized. You can make a great living in the trades, and those who practice them well, and they should be treated with respect equal to college graduates.

I supported McGovern in 1972 because of the Vietnam war. My opposition to that war was based upon concept that it was hurting the United States and made no sense in the overall effort to contain communism.

Vietnam did not matter. Western Europe mattered, and that was where we needed to allocate our resources. Vietnam was a waste of our resources and the biggest bargain Communist China and Soviet Union were getting at the time for the money they put into it.

The far left students wanted the Vietnamese win because it was another advance for communism. Unfortunately it has been those people who stayed in the education system and now have excessive influence over what is taught in many colleges today.

I supported Carter in 1976 because I had no use for Gerald Ford. I am convinced that he had a deal with Nixon to give him a pardon for all the crimes he committed, including income tax evasion, if Nixon appointed him to be vice president. That is exactly what happened.

Are you sure you are 2022 republican? I would say I agree with you 75-80% of the things you wrote here.

Here is the thing, today you think Democrat party is “BLM burning down cities and politicians like AOC screaming Defund police”. In your head you are thinking , I don’t give police “blank check” , but I don’t want to hand over police department to these BLM guys who are burning down the cities and I definitely don’t want to put AOC in power who will dismantle our way of life.

On the other hand when I see republican, I see Trump or MTG demonizing minorities and pandering to white supremist, and pushing a nationalism ideology. I only see the extreme side of the GOP and not moderate republican like yourself.

But here is the difference between current Democratic and GOP. AOC/ BLM/ and other far left group, they are influential in Democratic party but they don’t control Democrat. Joe Biden and AOC’s policies are not even from same Earth.

On the other hand, Trump is the leader of GOP. MTG will be the most powerful congressperson in upcoming House GOP.

Moderate GOP needs to take control of GOP , if not GOP will be irrelevant after 2032 election.

..any way .. GO USA .. Hope they win today against Netherlands

If you have read my posts, you would know that I don't want Trump to run in 2024. I want all of the candidates who are over 75 to leave the race. That goes for Trump, Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton and most especially Biden, who now going very senile.

Biden is also a crook. If he fails to take a strong stand on Communist China, it's obvious that they have bought him out. The truth about what Hunter was up to before the 2020 elections should have been told, but it wasn't because of Twitter and the other big tech sites.

Tick-Tock should be booted. It is a Chinese Communist Trojan horse and even some Democrats have noted that. If you want to talk about foreign nation disinformation campaigns, there is a prime example of it.

If it's moderates like the Bush family, I can't buy it. I never forgive them for supporting Hillary Clinton in 2016. Remaining neutral would have been okay, but you don't endorse the devil if you care about the welfare of the control. Like the Biden family, the Clintons are crooks. There is no getting around it. That server and their phony foundation were fountainheads of corruption.

It's good that you can see through AOC. She is ignorant fraud who gives little thought to the consequences of her policies. The trouble is, it's her Green New Deal that is dictating Biden policy. Biden himself is nothing but a puppet, but the people who control him are led by the AOC camp.

Well .. it is GOP choice. They can continue Trump policy with or without Trump or take a U turn. If they chose to demonize minority, keep their anti immigration policy, pandering white supremist, deny climate change, force woman to have unwanted baby, isolate America from globalization, then there are not enough White voter out there to give GOP 270 beyond 2028. By 2032 it will be hard for GOP to win even regional election. So it is GOP choice, they can hang on to 20th century policy or join rest of us in 21st century.

You think Bush and Clinton family are evil and Trump family is acceptable choice?

I agree with you about AOC. She is idiot and media thinks because she has 3 million twitter follower , she is a king maker among Democrats.

You lost me when you wrote about green new deal and Joe Biden is puppet. It seems like you are a moderator but when you think “green new deal” is Biden’s policy or Biden is puppet, I can’t take you seriously and have to put you in same group as MTG.

I am a strong believer in capitalism and freedom, not big government and top down control. And yes, I support much of Trump's policies, but not Trump himself because his personality and thin skin.

I believe in maintaining our borders and controlling who is allowed to enter this country. It's not fair to taxpayers who have their schools flooded with illegal aliens who can't speak English, and no one should want any part of criminals, sexual perverts and terrorists. Under the Biden policy, all of those people are allowed in with very little vetting.

The "pandering to White supremacy" comment is pure BS.

Climate Change might be real. If it is, having a strong economy is the best way to combat it. You need to look at China which has the biggest carbon footprint in the world, double the U.S. amount, and getting larger. The left thinks they have all the answers with electric cars, but they fail to look at the carbon footprint that is involved with building them and the source of the electricity to powers them. They also seem to have little interest in the slave labor and child labor that is involved in getting the raw materials to build the batteries. The Democrat administrations have limited our ability to search for those raw materials in the U.S. which shortsighted and wrong. The issue is a lot more complicated than the left makes it out to be.

There are also interim measures like carbon scrubbing, which the left rejects. Nuclear power could also play a role, but most on the left are totally emotional about it. The are liberals who say that nuclear power should be in the mix.

I agree with you about you about unwanted pregnancies, especially in the instances of rape and incest. BUT a woman needs to make that decision early in the pregnancy.

You are really hung up on White people and want to characterize them as racist. That really wrong and not a reflection of fact.

A lot of Hispanics are abandoning the Democrat Party because of its immigration policies. A number of them are Catholics not comfortable with the Democrat pro-abortion policies. Still others have lived with the South American communist governments and have no desire to live under one here.

I believe in capitalism and smart government. I don’t think government can solve all the issue, nor I believe we should let free market roam free and do whatever they want without Government rules and regulation. I don’t subscribe Sen Sanders kind of government but same time I don’t subscribe we should downsize government to a point that she can’t help her citizens. We need smart government, expend where it is necessary.

Regarding climate change, I agree most of what you said. Extreme Left’s solution is narrow and doom and gloom. Left may not have the answer for combating climate change, but the problem is right doesn’t want to even acknowledge that climate change is real.

Agree with you about abortion. As a matter of fact in another forum I was discussing about abortion in Germany. Germany has some of the stricter law about abortion then most in Europe. But German law is not the reason Germany has less abortion compared to other country in Europe. Germany provides social programs to mother in early stage of pregnancy which give them many option other then abortion.

Hispanic are not ditching Democrat. Hispanic traditionally are social conservative, yet last time 40%+ Hispanic voted for GOP was 2004 when GOP candidate had a comprehensive immigration policy, here is the chart of Hispanic support since 1980. Since then GOP never got more then 35% of Hispanic Vote.

    upload_2022-12-3_19-47-13.png
Let’s be honest, South American communist government is not the same as Democrat’s policy. Again, you are too smart to take MTG or Matt Gatz’s talking point.

We need comprehensive immigration, not because Democrat wants it or we like open border. We need comprehensive immigration because we don’t have enough citizen to fill up the open position. Since May of 2022 we have 10+ million open jobs and current unemployment rate is 3.7. We no longer have the problem of “ Americans don’t want to do low paying job, and we need cheap undocumented immigrant to do those jobs ” , we just don’t have enough people in this country to do the job. You want to sustain US economy, then you need labor force.

It’s good that we have many areas of agreement. I always viewed Gerald Ford as a very loyal Republican who could take his support too far. But that’s he got to be Speaker. He was something less than the sharpest knife in the drawer, to use a cliché.

people sucking on the public teats tend to breed at higher numbers than net tax producers. At my 25th reunion at Yale (in other words most of the attendees were in their late 40s) many had grade school kids. My son was 8. why? because people like us tend to wait until we make partner at our law firms, establish our own medical practice, or establish tenure at whatever college we are teaching. People going through Ivy league law schools and then working at top law firms or going through medical residencies usually aren't popping out kids. People sucking on the public teat do. So its not surprising that net tac consumers are going to outnumber the people who pay most of the taxes.

So the first thing you do is FORCE your child to have children when they don't want any?

It must have been hard on you and your wife to not have sex for 20 or 30 years

Here is a simple news for you. Democrats are the tax producer not republican.

70% of US economy are the countries where Biden won. 64% of US economy Are the countries Clinton won.

Biden-voting counties equal 70% of America’s economy. What does this mean for the nation’s political-economic divide? (brookings.edu)

the GOP has won the majority in every election for close to 100 years of those making more than 100K a year. the democrats have won the vote of the bottom 20%. I know lots of big bucks republicans who live in Hartford CT, LA, NY (Westchester county) and Chicago. They are outvoted by the democrat masses.

I don’t know what kind of math you do , but here is the fact. Democrats won 7/8 popular vote in last 8 presidential election.

You are right, all your rich 1% lives in CT, LA, NY, IL and majority blue state because that’s where the US economy is. They can’t live in RED state, most of the RED state lives on federal funding.

what is it? are the democrats the party of the rich? and yes, the are far more people who are net tax consumers than net tax payers
