It hasen't worked in Afghanistan .. and Egypt is still undecided. I don't think that either the Salafists or the Muslim Brotherhood want a secular Muslim state.

IMO.. most moderate Muslims ... say average Joes... will go along with the orthodox rather than progressives.. out of loyalty to Islam rather than any burning desire for freedom.. or freedom of speech, or equality for women.

The West needs to give some serious thought to the conversation about supporting the progressives.. and otherwise butting out.
