I have only just noticed that when various words are typed in threads they become the target of an advertising campaign. Credit card company, for example. If that is being permitted as a fund raiser then I'm all right with it, after all, it is your site to do with as you wish. but, if this is a way to advertise by subversion, do you propose putting a stop to it?
what do you mean 'target'? like is it a banner ad or a pop up or something? probably malware cause i've never gotten any
I agree. There are zero ads on the site for me. What company would want to have their company logo next to all the racist posts?!
Mine worked a treat when I introduced ,Enlargement , into seven different threads and , increased deaths among young Americans , in four threads a day . Already I have a 50% success rate and my Happiness index is up four points according to Account Feedback results . It's a great Interactive extra and still inexpensive . Well done Beaver for spotting and participating.
I hate it. Especially when the the hyperlinked word or phrase appears to be something which you'd like to see expanded, but you just end up looking at an advertisement of some kind. There shouldn't be anything like that going on here at PF. Must be the OP's comp.
You need Advanced System Care that can be obtained on Cnet.com in the downloads section. Also get AVG antivirus. You need computer help in the worst way. There is also an online scanner called Housecall antivirus. It is a product of PC Doctor. Just google it.
I have not experienced anything like what the OP has seen. A lot of people (especially the liberals) have me on "ignore", so you might suggest to this poster that he/she downloads and runs two free excellent spyware scanners. These are free editions, although these sites do invite a person to buy the "full" or "deluxe" versions of the software: Malwarebytes: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebyt...4572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button Superantispyware: http://download.cnet.com/SuperAntiSpyware-Free-Edition/3000-8022_4-10523889.html There are numerous variants of "Russian" viruses that knock down your typical anti-virus scanners, plant a trojan in your registry, and then let your anti-virus scanner come back up. But, too late... if this has happened, you're "snake-bit".... Never, ever click anywhere on any window that just spontaneously appears on your screen when browsing the net... don't even click on the "x" to make it go away. Power off your computer immediately, then power back up. If your anti-virus scanner is any good it will detect the attempted infection and quarantine or delete it within seconds. My personal favorite anti-virus scanner? A free offering from Microsoft itself, called Microsoft Security Essentials. Cheers!
Well, so far I have run a full scan by AdAware anti virus and malware detector, Zone Alarm and Spybot, (Search and Destroy,) none of which have detected it. It's an add that appears when the pointer hovers over the underlined words and is Canadian in origin as it shows the Maple Leaf and suggests it will help with reducing or eliminating credit card debt. It obviously is based on a dictionary word search so I may have a problem with everything I write. Let's hope 'Bashing America' is not two of them or my PC may catch fire from over extended use. It's quite large too, 5" x 5"in. Anyway, thanks for all the advise and as an aside I would mentions it's there on other forums too, so it's obviously in my PC rather than a problem with sites. P.S. It's not effective with 'credit card debt' mentioned in the earlier paragraph but still appears in previous posts by other members on this thread, so the aforementioned malware detectors may have done their job.
Try Malwarebytes. It's free, and it's gotten rid of some of the worst malware infections I've ever had.
Thanks, but I have got rid of it, although I may not have been too clear in the last sentence of my previous post. As you replied with a quote, this has confirmed it for me as no underlined words in my last post are now visible.
As some of the other posters have recommended, go with Malwarebytes and MS Security Essentials. This duo together is really good at cleaning up your system, and both are free to use.
Check your browser addons. It's probably a "toolbar" that is doing this. Some adware scanners will pass various toolbars if they pass certain criteria such as being legitimately installed. What browser do you have?

hummmm... every time I type the words Handsome, Sexy or Charming, a picture of me pops up! *blush* ~~~~~~~~ Glad you resolved it, BV.
The OP is complaining about keyword advertising from InfoLinks.com and certain words are highlighted and linked to unwanted ads originating from the site depending on one's PC settings and this is how to disable InfoLinks ads on Internet Explorer: 1) Open the IE options. This can be done by using the Tools menu within IE and selecting "Internet Options", by right-clicking on the IE icon on your desktop or Start menu and selecting "Internet Options", or by launching "Internet Options" from inside the Windows Control Panel. 2) From the IE Options window, select the Security tab 3) From within the security tab, click on the "Restricted sites" icon and then click the [Sites] button right below it. 4) A list box window will pop up. In the "Add this website to the zone:" filed type in "http://www.infolinks.com/" then click the [Add] button.
The problem was with 'Text Enhance' which is malware. It's an extension that I have now disabled. Furthermore, the site which doesn't first ask users if they wish to have the extension, does however give pissed off users the means to remove the add. I took that option too. Thank you all for your advice.
