I don’t believe it’s the federal governments roll to say what drugs should or should not be legal anyway. It’s simple, get rid of the FDA

This latest abrogation of personal freedom by authoritarians will be an issue ultimately addressed by an unpopular, ideologically-perverted Supreme Court.

Radicals in government overriding accepted medicine is enforced by an egregious invasion of privacy reminiscent of the stasi. Even private mail, privileged communications, and doctor/patient confidentiality are being wantonly violated by the zealots.

Advanced states where liberty is valued are under attack from extremists elsewhere.

Both parties have their foibles. For examples, some members of the GOP want to ban all extramarital sex and all members of the left want to jail Trump.

BTW, ask Trump what he thinks about the abortion pill ban (he'll say no). Ask Liz Cheney what she thinks about the abortion pill ban (she'll say yes).

The supermajority of the GOP backs Trump over Cheney, so, the idea that the GOP across the board backs the banning of the abortion pill is a fallacy, er, is a strawman argument...This whole OP is a strawman argument.

    It's called "accountability".
Is the Judge wrong to hold the FDA accountable if they did indeed violate its "statutory duty"?

Seems out of line that a judge can disapprove medication that has been tested for everyone else to use.

Why do Republicans hate women so much?

    Why do they fear them?

Why do they want to deem them broodstock and nothing more?

Does it come from some ancient fear deeply imbedded in them?

Why do they want to punish women for having sex and being female?

It sure looks like a mental illness to me...

What is your evidence that "all members of the left want to jail Trump?" I know quite a number of progressive, beside myself, who differ. I want the truth exposed and those Trump is attempting to gag to testify, not for our system of jurisprudence where no one is above the law to create a martyr for his weird worshipers.

Who is telling you that "the GOP across the board backs the banning of the abortion pill."

Ideas are not responsible for those who hold them.

The authoritarianism under which personal freedom is being eviscerated is an overwhelmingly Republican phenomenon, and that Party, accordingly, is and will continue to bear the consequences in democratic elections.

Oh my, Susan Collins actually had a backbone and voted against Kacsmaryk and didn't rely on her old standby that she spoke with him /her and was reassured and confident they will not be biased with their personal beliefs and respect precedents yada-yada.

"Susan Collins’ Dire Warning About Matthew Kacsmaryk Proven True"

    snip:

"She raised concerns about his “alarming bias against LGBTQ Americans and disregard for Supreme Court precedents,” according to The Washington Post.

Specifically, Collins warned about Kacsmaryk’s stance on reproductive rights in her explanation as to why she would buck her party and vote against his nomination.

“Mr. Kacsmaryk has dismissed proponents of reproductive choice as ‘sexual revolutionaries,’ and disdainfully criticized the legal foundations of Roe v. Wade,” Collins said in a 2019 statement. “Such extreme statements reflect poorly on Mr. Kacsmaryk’s temperament and suggest an inability to respect precedent and to apply the law fairly and impartially.”

If you think Trump and the authoritarianism is on the right, then you're sadly mistaken what authoritarianism is. Please, don't be convinced by the fake conservative neocons like Liz Cheney.

they should regulate them in so that people know what they are getting

but if a person needs an asthma albuterol inhaler and has needed it for years and years, just let them buy it over the counter without seeing a doctor every year to just to renew a prescription - that is why healthcare cost are so high

The GOP's flip flop from libertarian to authoritarian proclivities is blatant, particularly in Florida where politicians are dictating to medicine, science, education, private enterprise, and local communities.

Their suppression of reproductive freedom and promotion of firearm permissiveness are conspicuous examples of defying the majoritarian sentiment of Americans.

It is hardly surprising that so many refuse to respect democratic elections.

Most Americans, just as they support the establish law for 50 years after Roe v Wade, recognize that the FDA, approving mifepristone and documenting its safety, is far more competent in the mater than zealots with a gavel but no medical expertise.

That's a clear conflict of interest.

What about the pharma company that received FDA approval 23 years ago? Wouldn't they, and any other pharma company selling this drug, have the strongest interest in seeing this overturned? They need to dig into their deep pockets and fund opposition to this.

When will men stop trying to control women?

    Whose responsibility IS it?

What you are proposing appears to be absolutely INSANE.

Who else is there who has the capacity and is held to the responsibility for determining whether a drug or procedure is safe or effective?

Not at all. See #44. First it's loss of funding, next it will be statewide bans.

The GOP is far out of touch with their constituencies.

    https://news.gallup.com/poll/1576/abortion.aspx

This will become the proverbial "chickens coming home to roost." Republican candidates in 2024 will have to weigh in on this issue. I guess we'll see then how Americans really feel about it.
