The Hill in May reported that Buttigieg spent all of six months in Afghanistan, from mid-March to mid-September of 2014. He didn't even miss Christmas at home. In his time there, he “coordinated intelligence sharing and targeting deconfliction” methods across military operations.

"[M]ilitary officials who reviewed the documents ... note that [Buttigieg] likely did not engage in direct combat, which would have earned him a Navy combat ribbon. ...

Before his deployment to Afghanistan, Buttigieg was sent to Camp McCrady outside Fort Jackson, S.C., where he trained to become a “dirt sailor,” which is military slang for “Navy personnel assigned to Army-style jobs in combat zones.” ​

I wouldn't diminish Buttigieg's service. But why is he acting like his six months in a tent was Part II of American Sniper?

He brings up his service but I’ve never heard him try to make it more than it was. It’s not like republicans wouldn’t go after him even if he’d been in combat...just ask Vindman or Kerry

 

I’ve not heard him speak much at all so i can’t say for sure. But the vibe I get from him is that he is not one to over hype his service.

 

He and Gabbard campaign on their military service and they both brag about it all the time. Kerry would be the last person I'd ask. They served and it has served both of them well. Pete and Kerry were both navel reservists. Some military service of any type is a smart and popular prerequisite for a planned career in politics. I don't know if Pete was ROTC but if so, it also paid for the very expensive education he received.

Just curious, who is the DNC currently rigging the election for? Biden can't win and they can't have Sanders in there so it might be Pete. Although he'll only garner somewhere between 2-3% of all black votes because his racist tendencies will start to bloom in full if he wins. Democrats at a real crosswords here.
