Yeah...Trump should have ignored WHO, Dr. Fauchi and all his other experts and just immediately banned all travel from all countries, issued a State of Emergency Declaration and ordered every single person in the US on immediate lockdown. Is that what you think should have been done for one case out of 300+ million people?
I clearly remember the CDC and the WHO, Dr. Fauci etc discouraging people from wearing masks in late January. It was unbelievable.
That's because the WHO takes its marching orders from China and China was busy hoarding all the masks.....so the WHO just told everyone else that wearing masks didn't help......which of course was what China wanted them to say.

Trump thought the virus was serious enough to shut down air traffic from China (in a half assed way) but we don't need to ramp up PPE production? Well that kind of thinking was why we didn't have enough
As Leah said, they did so to prevent regular people from hording masks, because the healthcare workers needed them.

Why would the federal government need millions of masks? AFAIK they only run VA hospitals, some military medical units and a couple (one??) of hospitals.
Did you not know that the "national stockpile" was being used to help out the states in a disaster? And oh yea...the VA somehow didn't get what THEY needed either
