Source TV and Twitter Sheikh Emad Effat from the Fatwa council of Al Azhar has been shot dead in Cairo during riots. Sheikh Effat issued a fatwa against ex regime NDP Mubarak members being allowed to campaign in elections. Earlier today the sit in protesters were joined by Ultras and riots broke out. Earlier they were singing Ultra songs and stopping the cabinet from entering the cabinet building. Stone throwing escalated. Police and army fought back to take control of the government building which they were setting alight. It's been going on since morning. I was not there but my opinion earlier today with friends was we wanted an end to this madness. For these protesters to go home. The elections they wanted are almost over. They were invited to nominate candidates for the cabinet and all the ones they wanted to elect the people refused to be elected. Ganzoury then elected who he wanted. We discovered they are the 'No Party'. Nothing pleased this group of protesters. People were just sick of them because they had nothing to say but no. 2 dead now. 222 injured. Sheikh who spoke out against ex NDP shot dead now. Lots of rumours of who is responsible. I've never been a fan of the CSF but today I had sympathy for them. I have always spoken out against them but what I was seeing today I would have defended myself as they did against these thugs and protected the peoples cars and building they were destroying. I have to be fair. People are running out of patience now with them. I am sure the headlines will go crazy on this but the people I have spoken to said they had it coming. They want to stop the elections for whatever reason. Who are they? They have the same Ultra thugs working for them. The leaders of the revolutionary parties have not been part of this sit in. The ones who boycotted the first phase are now busy campaigning for the last phase. My guess...... ex regime just like Camel Battle. I may be wrong but that's the way it is looking to me so far from everything today especially after the Sheikh now being killed for standing out against the ex regime campaigning in elections. Who knows There are some links coming up from the media but I will leave you to read them yourselves. My opinion came from watching this escalate over the day and watching the footage not reading one or two headlines.
Here's the BBC on the protest: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-16223523 You're looking less and less of a prodemocracy advocate.
