War films don't interest me. And, if the reports of the subject having consistently lied in his book are true, and if the film follows suit, those are even more reasons not to see it. Movies 'do well' for all kinds of reasons. Quality is seldom one of them with mainstream 'blockbusters'.

So that is a "No I haven't seen the film and don't know anything about it" ! OK. There are all kinds of "reports" about anything and everything out there put out by those with an agenda. Those don't interest me.

I never commented on the film. I commented that, a) war films don't interest me and, b) that much of the 'product' from Hollywood is crap. Both statements are true. Besides I'm more of a vintage film buff, when film makers had to rely on content not CGI.

The topic is movies (plural), is it not? Can't I stay and play?

He was referring to Oscar nominations. It did fine, just not not enough for race-baiters.
And because, as he thinks, people are tired of movies about racial divide.

A lot of movies are roughly based on fact.... that has nothing to do with anything I've said.

    That's nice.
    Tell me more.

Which is why I didn't say "So this is the law". (wtf?!)

Was it snubbed because it was about black people ?
I guess the idea that maybe it wasn't as loved as other movies is not an option.

Meh, I guess people are tired of them.

    Okay then.

That was basically the plot and what both movies have in common, though one won some Oscars for it.

I don't know why it got snubbed. Most critics and moviegoers alike adored it. Then again, lots of movies that people like also get snubbed by the Oscars, so it's nothing new. I saw that Gone Girl and Nightcrawler may have also got snubbed.

well, war films don't interest me either.... but I'm here. This is just because there are people bashing one side's martyr while they prop up their martyr who plaigarized his doctorate beat white women, and had multiple affairs while being presented to the world as perfect.

Slema got snubbed? It was nominated for best picture. The American public is tired of the race baiting nonsense movies. What the American Public feels is often not in line with what the Hollywood elite feels.

Then why are you commenting here in a thread about the movie?
Surely you don't think your personal preference in movie genres is that interesting to anyone else.....do you?

    I highly recommend it.

Very in-depth movie that goes beyond the battlefield. It does a great job of showing you what many combat veterans, including myself, dealt with when we got home.

I still can't have people sitting behind me in class. Freaks me out.

Hon, the record of his kills comes from the Pentagon.

    Now you know.

Understood. I have commented in threads based on things I don't have any genuine interest in also. But I had to point that out.

I don't mind war films... but I'm young. Maybe when I'm older I'll grow tired of them... like many have of these racial divide movies.

Of course, even us young people have grown tired of those.

Couldn't care less about his 'kills', frankly. The man was a liar; he lied to sell his book.

    Not to belabor the obvious....

but the entire point of the OP was Rightwing cheerleading AGAINST a movie that dealt with civil rights for blacks ("Selma") and FOR a movie where a white guy shoots brown people ("American Sniper").

    All there is to it.
