Let's look at another 47%, that is the stupid people, led by the lying billionnaires and deceitful politicians of the GOP, who still support Mitt Romney. These are the people who stand for the destruction of the global automotive supply chain, which would have handed the US Automotive Industry (not just the OEMs but the whole global supply chain) to Asian transnationals by starving the whole supply chain of liquidity. The stupid people cannot understand that with 2/3 of the Big 3 going into Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, at the same time as a global banking crisis, there would have been a liquidity crisis amongst all companies even slightly connected to the US supply chain. Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, which the Bush and Obama Adminsitrations prevented, would have meant protecting the Big 2 from having to pay their debts, which would in turn have precipitated hundreds of global firms - perfectly efficient and profitable ones who rely on being paid by their customers - seeking similar protection from having to pay their debts too. This is simply how the system works and what the Tea Party say should have happened: leaving the market to its own devices and plunging the world's economy into darkness, to teach us profligate lot a lesson. Somehow the Tea Party see themsleves as unimplicated and unaffected by this. Why? Because they fall into three camps: the billionnaires who bankroll the Tea Party, the working poor social conservatives who are the foot soldiers, and the ignorant half educated dolts who lap up the lies they are fed. On the back of such a crisis, only firms supported by governments (ie Japan, China, the EU) would have survived (of course Romney's friends in private equity would have found the perfect opportunity for their vulture like, asset stripping activities in such events too). If this industry (the non-unionized, efficient supply chain, not the OEMs) had been capable of saving itself in parts through borrowing, these same economic illiterates wanted to plunge the global banking system into a liquidity crisis by opposing the bailout of banks. They were really determined to go running like lemmings over the clifftop. Automotive firms would have tumbled like dominoes which is why people like Ryan supported bailouts at the time he lived in the real world, even if such people lack the integrity to stand behind their decisions now (some GOP people are stupid, others just liars and hypocrites). What is interesting about the USA is this collosal GOP lie that liberals or Democrat voters are unproductive bums, but GOP voters are all enterprising self made millionaires. I don't know if there could be a bigger lie, except to say that if Romney believes this baloney, then it doesn't qualify as a lie. Could he be so stupid? I doubt it. The quickest way to appreciate this lie is to look at the electoral map, excluding toss up states. Then imagine the USA as two nations, one a progressive modern nation around the two seaboards, with enormous wealth in places like California and New England, New York and the Mid West; the other a set of backward hinterland states, full of welfare bums and dirt poor trailer-trash, that - excluding a couple of states like Texas and North Carolina - more resembles the backward nations of southern Europe, complete with religious dogma and superstition, or the gangster states of the former USSR, full of raw materials but devoid of any innovation, enterprise or progress. Which one does the GOP represent? From Mitt's ramblings you would think he would draw his support from the intellectual and financial powerhouses of the Coastal Elite, the State of California which just by itself is as strong an economic force as a nation like the UK or France. Surely he would be the natural leader of the innovators of the universities of New England, or the Technology billionnaires... is this the GOP base? Surely it can't be the other way round? Surely Mr Romney is not the Leader of a Party which relies on the working poor from hick country towns that he so despises ? Doesn't he loathe the "Red States" with their welfare dependents and wilful nineteenth century ignorance of science and progress? Surely the American Dream that he claims to support isn't found in Kansas, or Georgia or Alaska, states not really known as the homelands of innovation, technology and the American Competitive Edge? There seems to be confusion somewhere. The man who despises freeloaders, people who make a limited contribution and who lauds success, prosperity and innovation, seems to be the leader of freeloader states sunk in poverty, ignorance and prejudice. He's not even coy about his dishonesty. It is a remarkable example of doublethink. War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength. When Orwell wrote 1984 he had the likes of Mitt Romney and the current GOP in mind. The Blue Nation would be still the leader of the Free World if it seceded from "the Union" and got rid of all those parasitical, spongeing freeloading Red States. It could even let North Carolina in if the liberal wealth creators around Raleigh Durham, or Texas in if the liberal wealth creators around Austin and Dallas can persuade their electorates that there is more future with California and Massachusetts than with Missouri or Mississippi. Then look at what is in the Red nation - the GOP base, the base of the billionnaires and the 1%: here we have Alabama, Louisiana, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wymoing, Kentucky, Idaho, Kansas, Alaska, Georgia, South Carolina. These are statistically the home of the 47% that the GOP despises, full of folks too poor to pay Federal Income Tax and too stupid to see where their own fiscal interest lies, truly blinded by nineteenth century versions of "guns and God". The GOP may despise these folks, but it knows it needs them. So it plays up a visceral and wholly irrational hatred of Obama, the uppity black man, knowing that racism still works in these states where white people may be on welfare or pay little tax, but still whistle the same old bigotry that they did fifty years ago. Obama is a half competent buffoon, but a six year old can see that he is more able than Romney. The only explanation for the venom, the overwhelming belief that the POTUS is a muslim born outside America, and the blinding hatred from the GOP base, is the deep and heart felt racism of these folks. There is no other rational explanation for hating a man so much for more or less continuing the policies and approach followed by George W Bush in his second term (when Bush moderated his administration). There can be few things in the Free World more ugly, more morally decadent and more dishonest and lacking in integrity than the current US GOP, its base and its leadership. When you take into account the power and influence that emanates from the Blue Nation of the USA, for these to be expropriated by the representatives of a Third Rate, wannabe Banana Republic Red Nation, would be a real threat to the Free World and global democracy. The fact that the USA is so close to handing over the reins of power to such charlatans and gangsters is remarkable. It should be a wake up call for every freedom lover and democrat in the world, that America is being lost to such darkness. The shadow will fall over us all.
