Maybe because he failed to protect us in far more significant ways. eg drowning every living thing on the planet, dashing babies on rocks, killing firstborns, sending bears to maul children, etc. That is, after all, the point of the thread.

No because with water filtration having been what it was, it was safer not to wash your hands.

It was in Jewish law to wash your hands before you eat. There was no reason for him to repeat it.

Most reasonable people would summarily disown their father if their father did even one of these things...if they were a moral person, that is.

SueAnn, when plagues in the later centuries were being spread in Europe by germs, and millions where dying because of it, did Jesus take time out of his busy schedule of "watching over us and protecting us from above" to educate them about the simple steps they needed to avoid death, or did he let children suffer horrific deaths instead? SueAnn, if YOU had Jesus' alleged magic super-hero powers would YOU have simply snapped your all-powerful fingers and educated people about the simple steps they needed, regarding germ theory at that time? I KNOW what crank would have done....what about you?
    Have a great day.

So he only cared about Jews? What about Hindus? What about Buddhists? What about atheists? What about Jains? Since he's going to let them rot in hell anyway, I guess he's not as all-loving as advertised.

If a religion was REALLY from the all-powerful, all-knowing, all-everything, perfect magic creator of the entire universe, then of course he'd be well and truly ABOVE mocking, since he'd be so perfect. "Curses! Drat, we immoral atheists would LIKE to mock god, but he's so perfect and mock-proof that we just, for the life of us, can't do it very well at all!", is what the frustrated and hopelessly out-witted atheists would say if god was actually real.
An actual "god" would not be very mockable, but some con artist who just INVENTS a (false) religion for his own personal aggrandisement, oh yes, HE is eminently mockable! So if your belief system is mockable, then, well, what does that tell you.....

Too bad there was no all-knowing, all-loving, all-caring magic man alive, who considered humanity "his children", at the time to simply educate them about a few simple health tips that would have solved that problem. Too bad.

Maybe killing people off so they go to heaven was this man's goal instead of making them live with all the atheists. Hard to say about such things.

Yes, that's why Jesus purposefully withholds the cure for cancer every day for the last 2000 years and counting, so that 6 year-old innocent little girls die horrifically painful deaths due to childhood cancers, so that they don't have to sit through the indignity of watching one more Richard Dawkins Youtube video. Makes perfect sense to me! Thanks for caring so much, Jesus.

You are welcome. If Jesus cured cancer, then the 6 year old would eventually die from something else. Maybe if she were not out having chemo, she would have burned to death playing with a candle which is just as horrible. Atheists know everything so why do they need Jesus to cure cancer? Why don't they just do it themselves over Christmas when they have nothing to do.?

Great, so let's encourage doctors to quit trying to cure people since the patient will die of something else eventually anyway. I have a relative who is a doctor, I'll tell him the good news after I type this (his golfing partner will thank me.) :)
So according to the religious mind, Doctors Without Borders is a big waste of time, apparently. I'll email them to disband right now.

If you had Jesus alleged magic super-powers would YOU give us the cure for cancer? I know what crank and Richard Dawkins would do, but what about YOU? This question might help us to judge how well religion prepares people to answer moral questions (vs. atheists like crank and Dawkins, who get no moral guidance from "above".) We await your reply.

Jesus/Allah allegedly have that power, so why don't THEY do it? If they cared for their "children" the way they claim, that is. (If I didn't know better I'd say it's almost like they don't for the same reason that Zeus and Krishna don't....nonexistence.) We can agree that Zeus and Krishna are nonexistent, correct?

What I would say if I was Jesus? "Our survival as a species depends on women carrying, birthing and feeding children from their bodies. Treat mothers as you would treat God."

None of the others would listen to Jesus.

Also, pretty much all major religions have ritual handwashing--Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, Jains, Christians, Bah'Hai,.

Hell no, I would have set the world up in such a way that one did not have to worry about it. Communications are often flawed.

Yes he did, but it got lost with the lesson on democracy and republicanism.

are you even a little bit uncomfortable at being forced to say things like the above in defence of your god?

meantime, in answer to your question 'why don't atheists find a cure for cancer'? because according to christians, your god planned that we wouldn't. he appears to want to continue toying with us in this cruel fashion.
