Antarctic sets record for most Ice this time of year. So much for the doom and gloom of the Global Warming propagandists

A sure sign of global warming.

Yeah, it is called balance. The northern hemisphere has been ice free before while the southern stays icy.

18% greater Arctic ice loss this year.

Antarctic land ice is decreasing by 100GT to 300Gt per year.

None of this has anything to do with man mad GW anyways. Or even just plain old global warming. Or anything for that matter.

Arctic sea ice was always predicted to decline faster than in the South, Antarctic ice will follow. The present marginal increase is related to the Ozone hole, but being marginal, any "balance" is illusory. An op ed based on a blogger's misinterpretation of the science is as good as Apdst gets, it's turtles all the way down from here.

None of those predictions ever come true anyways so why does it matter? And saying that the present marginal increase is related to the Ozone hole is about as good a guess as saying it's related to some dude in Alaska left his fridge open, it's all just conjecture at this point.

    Perspective:

In order to raise the ocean level 1 inch, you would need to lose 9137GT (Gigatonnes) of land ice. Now, let's just average your GT range to 200GT per year loss of land ice. Simple math tells us that it would take about 46 years to accomplish this. Of course it COULD be that there may be several years of 100GT loss as well which would significantly stretch the rise over almost 1 century.

The whole argument was to disprove the fact that the earth is getting warmer which it is not. In fact, the Antarctic is warming at a faster rate than most of the rest of the globe. Just more cherry picking of data to support a losing arguement.

I gave you facts about melting ice that's all. It is you who are taking those facts and cherry picking and then predicting what you believe to be the truth. All I know is at the present rate we have a half century before the oceans rise 1 inch. Seems to me that's enough time to make certain provisions if any are needed. We're not going to stop the climate...

Antarctica is not warming. The Steig paper is crap with made up data.

The satellite data shows Antarctica cooling

I love you use the word cherry picking when every instrument data set we have shows antarctic cooling and you are relying on one study where they invent data. Who is cherry picking?

The Antarctic ice is growing, since so much of it sits on a land mass it's this ice, not the artic ice, that will raise the sea level.

this is true. This planets history is filled with climate change, some of which man was not around to blame. Some say every 3500 years, some say every 18000 years. The last serious climate change was the Little Ice Age. Ice core samples of the last 10000 years show that we have gone through this before. Anyone that believes that a natural process can be altered by giving money to some obscure international government agency is a fool (UN Carbon Tax)

Antarctic warming faster then first thought...

West Antarctic Ice Sheet warming twice earlier estimate
23 December 2012 - The data from Byrd Station shows rapid warming on the west Antarctic ice sheet

So they took a broken sensor and filled the gaps in with climate models and walla more warming. Color me surprised. How do you buy the (*)(*)(*)(*) these lying sacks of (*)(*)(*)(*) sell.

The team burned much of its fuel in a bid to connect the under-ice boreholes...

Lake Ellsworth Antarctic drilling project called off
27 December 2012 - An ambitious mission to drill through 3km (1.8 miles) of Antarctic ice to a lake that has been sealed off for thousands of years has been cut short.

Okay...consider this...salt water (sea water) freezes at about -2C or 28 degrees F. If land ice were being melted and flowing into the ocean it would tend to "float" on top of saline ocean water (because it is less dense) and reduce salinity. This would raise the temperature that would be required for the ocean water to freeze and increase the ice on top of the water.

So what is the point here?
