This will upset some here. Fake news like this targets conservatives/Republicans for a reason. There is also a reason that most fake news targets conservatives. Some of the people who come up and disperse fake news in interviews said they tried targeting liberals and it just does not work. One saying usually they would get a few bites when targeting liberals, but it would shortly be debunked. The opposite is true targeting conservatives. They say it spreads and gets shared a lot among conservatives with few questioning it.

There was also a study done that demonstrated conservatives are more likely to believe stories like this and accept them as being true. They found that if they asked conservatives and liberals if some statement was true or false that was not about a threat both groups would have about the same amount of people saying it is true from both groups. If the statement was something involving a threat conservatives were far more likely to believe it.

I am not saying conservatives are stupider or more gullible. Just maybe more worried about or sensitive to perceived threats than liberals seem to be.

Except that I mainly hear that from people defending Trump. I can not recall anyone really using that phrase except people trying to discredit the investigation. What is believed is Russia tried to influence the election in favor of Trump. There is evidence they may have at least tried to hack the election in several states. This is backed by the entirety of the US intelligence agencies. So it is not just something that is pulled out of thin air or heard someplace like Infowars. Even Fox News is not pushing the narrative that Russia did not attempt to influence the election very hard now. They are just looking at it from a different angle. Pointing towards the DNC and Hillary being the guilty ones who may have worked with them.

Unless you have some compelling evidence to present I will tend to believe the Russians actively tried to influence our election. What I have heard so far in support of the Russians not trying to influence the election has had the same substance as your post I am replying to. Just basically saying,"No they did not."

It would also be nice to supply your evidence via links or what ever that the Russians did not try to influence the election by use a social media, at least attempting to infiltrate one or more campaigns and hacking several states voter systems.

Coming from NPR, I'd have my doubts if this is true and want it verified. If true, perhaps it's because progressives get their talking points from the same source and all are on the exact same page with no independent thinking. So if something doesn't show up on their regular source, they don't believe it. As far as what they believe, their main beliefs are fake news but they will never admit it.

And there have been murders and terrorist attacks by the alt-right, but that does not mean anyone should be gullible enough to believe that Trump fans are going to start beheading people in the streets tomorrow. No but we do have actual cases where they're promoting home invasions and attacking people violently.
