    It's MAYHEM! Be AFRAID!!!

Definitely need special forces to handle this CRISIS! I hear not only Antifa, but the Muslim Brotherhood, Al Quaeda, ISIS, all of them are gathering in the zone, and with plans to ESTABLISH SHARIA LAW ON ALL OF YOU EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY!

IDK if most of you can handle watching, the graphic violence, looting and rioting would probably be too much for you....

Yes they were, but I was not one of them. I don't think Acosta was violent towards that girl. However, do you stand by your claim that the video was "clearly doctored?"

You live on the East Coast yet you think you know everything about what is going on on the West Coast. I have been living in the Pacific Northwest for about fifteen years. In all that time, I have heard conservatives and their media outlets continually trash talk the area, and usually in ways that don't square with reality. I'm quite certain the complaints come from a position of inferiority.

But then we all know why, don't we? Economically, the top five states are Colorado, Utah, Washington, Oregon, and California. Those five states also have a much richer and more diverse cultures than the rest of the country. And the people are healthier, wealthier, and better educated. But what makes the West so much better is its liberal spirit.

It is kind of difficult to claim conservatism is all that and liberals are somehow less when the best parts of the country are mostly solidly in Democratic hands and full of liberal leaning individuals.

I'm quite certain that life in the state of Washington is far better than life in Virginia. So before you go on with your less than realistic view of Seattle, be aware that where you live, things are worse.

Yes. I'm quite certain that it was translated into a GIF for the sole purpose of manipulating the image. In the past I have written programs that alter a GIF image on the fly. I know how it works.

But it wasn't just the manipulated image, it was the rhetoric that surrounded it.

Fact of the matter is that Trump was getting questions that he just didn't want to answer. Mostly because the reporters were calling him out for his less than honest proclamations. He didn't handle it well and came just short of having a tantrum before he stormed off.

The story the next day was Trump's behavior at the news conference. But right wing media jumped in with a false story, led by Sarah Huckabee Sanders and the kooks at info wars. So all over conservadom, the throng was all in a titter over the pretended bad behavior of a Fake news reporter, disrespecting the greaest bestest president ever.

Well this is baseless. You're just assuming that this was the motive.

And you wrote the programs specifically so that people could manipulate videos by speeding them up by a few frames, barely making any noticeable difference?

Yeah, Trump's an idiot, but Acosta's behaviour was less than professional.

First, I currently live in Virginia, but I have also lived in California. Not to mention seven other states, and I have been to 26 other countries besides. So, you should never assume.

Wealth is measured in many different ways. I consider wealth to be income vs buying power. Here are the Price Index sheets for both Seattle, WA and Richmond, VA. Who do you think has the greatest buying power?
    https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/in/Seattle
    https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/in/Richmond
Just because you make more money does not mean you have more wealth.

Also, I am not sure where you got your top five from, but this website has it differently:
    https://www.visualcapitalist.com/ranked-best-worst-state-economies/

Finally, I posted sources for everything that I posted. You do not believe them, then offer your own credible sources. But no matter what you want to claim, the actions taken by the insurrectionists are unlawful. The statements made by the Chief of Police are not debatable. She has said that she had reports of extortion, and could not respond to a 911 call for rape in CHAZ, or CHOP. The Mayor is stopping the Chief of Police from doing her job of retaking CHAZ, or CHOP. You have a Governor that is on record as being totally clueless of the situation in Seattle. You have the black leaders in CHAZ, or CHOP, as speaking out against the white protesters, and you have armed elements linked to ANTIFA. Not may spell peace and harmony to you, but not to the rest of the world.

So, maybe you need to take a trip away from the west coast to get a little prospective of what is really going in you community. Because if you live in Seattle, your in the middle of a **** storm and don't even know it.

You live in one of the whitest cities in America. The population of Portland is 6% black. That's less than half than the national black population of 13%. I live very near Indianapolis, where the population is 30% black. That's more than double the national black population.

And despite Portland having a population 200,000 smaller than Indianapolis, there are about 12,000 more people living on Portland's streets. Portland has 6 times as many homeless as Indianapolis.

    So I ask you -

Who has the more diverse culture? Portland, or Indianapolis?

Where are things worse? Portland or Indianapolis?

Who is in a position of superiority?

Does your version inferiority and superiority really square with reality?

Hey, Oliver, do you really know what is going on in Atlanta? If you don't want those living in the east coast talking about what is going on in Seattle, then why are you chiming in on an Atlanta Shooting? Sure was surprised to see you on this topic after the post from you that I answered on the CHAZ topic.

To support that position, Fox News hasn’t just been making up stories—it’s been manufacturing images and video. As the Seattle Times reports, Fox has “digitally altered” images to make the situation in the area seem dire. That includes putting together elements from multiple images to create a misleading collage, lifting signs and symbols from one area to impose them on another, and it means that many of the images Fox is using to present the image of chaos in Seattle … aren’t even from Seattle.

Images that appear to show masked and armed men inside the zone are in fact composites taken on different dates and in different places. Burning buildings are actually from shots taken in St. Paul during the first days of the protests there. Some of the pictures Fox has merged together in their “coverage” of the current Seattle are actually two weeks old—or elements from two-week old pictures have been inserted into current scenes to make the situation appear worse than it is. Fox has also continued to report, and other sources have repeated, claims that businesses inside the zone are being extorted for protection payments, even after the police chief in Seattle investigated these claims and found nothing to them.

Kind of funny that your link to disprove my claims of top economies more or less agrees with me. And even though it may be a lot less expensive to live in Dogbreath Nebraska, but what to do?

There is a reason that people willingly pay more to live in vibrant cities like Seattle and Portland. Not only for the cultural amenities but also the much increased economic opportunities, especially in the high tech world. On quality of life issues alone, I think that the West wins out everytime. Only in Conservadom is a higher standard of living seen as a bad thing.

I'm quite certain that right wing media has been feeding you a view of Seattle that does not reflect reality.

But then y'all play that game all the time. Last year y'all was telling me how horrible it was in Portland with the "antifa" running wild, causing destruction and violence. Yet everyone who lived in Portland was quite aware that It was the violent right wing gangs, Patriot Prayer and the Proud Boys that was causing all the violence, and that there were elements within the police department that were aiding and abetting them.

Eventually the problem was solved when a new police chief was hired who reorganized the department. The end result was that members of the violent right wing gangs were arrested and charged with felonies. Those who associate with the Rose City AntiFa still freely mingle in the city to no ill effect. Clearly it was violent right wingers causing the violence, just so the right wing media could pretend it was the result of Democratic rule. The leader of the Patriot Prayer has said as much.

When I was twelve my family took a vacation to Washington DC. Our hotel was in Virginia and one night we were at the Dairy Queen. It had just closed but we were still sitting at the outdoor tables eating. Suddenly a police officer came running by. He stopped, breathing hard, he asked if we had seen a colored man run by there. Without missing a beat, my dad asked, "What color"? The cop gave him the dirtiest look and then ran off into the night.

    • Threats or incitements to violence (Rule 6)
I think that the protests in Atlanta are justified. I think all of the protests. <Rule 6> Our country is pretty ****ed up and the police are a major cause of the problem.

You may think the police were justified but I do not. I do not think that they even needed to arrest him, let alone shoot him.

<Mod Edit> Y'all are going to go on about how bad a guy the dead guy was. But the issue is that quite a few Americans have had bad experiences at the hands of police officers. I could never be a police officer because I wouldn't want to be ruining people's lives over some vague law and order nonsense.

The issue is the police. The problem is the police. Until the police problem is fixed, nothing will change.

Detail precisely what the so-called "digital altering" actually amounted to, and what it served to change in the process.

Right wing media is and was designed to be deceptive from the begining. From its inception, FOX was designed to get people to believe things that don't square with reality, to get people to vote against their best interest. Do you really think that half the people in the country think that it is a good idea to give the wealthiest people ever more tax cuts, and to deregulate corporations?

Again. Detail precisely what the so-called "digital altering" actually amounted to, and what it served to change in the process. Detail that and only that, nothing else. If it is not possible for yourself to answer such a simple question, there is no legitimacy on the part of yourself being involved in this discussion.

START with showing rioting from St Paul that happened weeks ago and claiming it was recent footage from Seattle

It is to delude you. To get you to believe things that are not true. They take a few images, from all over the country, across time and put them together in a way that makes you think things are different than they are.

Or maybe because they're racists and they willingly pay more to live in cities with tiny populations of black people like Portland and Seattle where blacks can't afford to live.

Is that why you moved to Portland? To get away from the blacks?

I've always loved the way that conservatives go on about how much better it is to hunt venison on the endless snowfields of Dakota all winter while the poor residents of CA have nothing to do but surf.

    Not really.
The biggest city in South Dakota has the same black population percentage as Portland.

You seem to be having a very hard time facing the reality that Portland is an extremely white city. Why is that? Your entire state is incredibly white. It's basically pure white.
Is that why you love living in Oregon? The whiteness? Is all the whiteness what makes Oregon and Portland superior?

    My states is far blacker.

    Capture.PNG

You reckon that's why my state is inferior to yours?

I wonder how the conservatives are going to deal with it when CHAZ starts becoming the most attractive area in the city

When the cardboard garden fertilized by all the bum poop comes into bloom, CHAZ is going to be truly beautiful.

How come the apartment that I lived in while stationed in 29 Palms, CA cost more then my apartment that I live in just outside of Richmond, VA? How come an apartment in Athens, GA (Home of the University of GA and a mere 60 miles from Atlanta) costs less then what I am paying now? Answer, because the Price Index is driven by a number of factors that obviously confuse you.

As far as my link proving you more or less, it was definately less. Within the top five included Massachusetts and Washington DC. Not all five are on the West Coast as you claimed.

I do not think a vibrant city is a bad thing. But I also do not see any need to spend extra for it. There are a lot of places where you can live where there is a vibrant community, but you do not have to over pay for it. But then again, my idea of unwinding includes church, fishing and hunting. You being such a card carrying liberal, I am sure your against all three.

I'm quite certain that right wing media has been feeding you a view of Seattle that does not reflect reality.

I have no doubt that was how you saw things. I am sure that you thought that the Proud Boy or Patriot Prayer member had no right to be there, so anything done to them was their own fault. But the media was reporting it from a different prospective. That is that the one initiating the contact, and blocking the roads were the ones that were at fault. I am sure it is a prospective thing. But given your displayed prospective, I will follow the media reports.

Wow, arrest all those that disagree with you, and charge them with felonies. Then let those that you agree with go free. How very liberal of you.

Proof positive. If you are raised to disrespect cops, you will disrespect cops as an adult.

Our country is ****ed up because some groups of people believe that it is their right to resist lawful arrests. They believe that they can take a weapon from the officer, and try to use it against them. Until people stop doing this, there will be a lot more dead at the hands of the police.

So, you don't think a person should be arrested for DUI? What if they had allowed Booker to walk to his sister's house? The officers drive off, and what would stop Booker to return to his car, still drunk, and drive off? Who would be responsible for the family that could have been killed then? Answer: The police officers that gave him a break.

This was not an unjustified shooting as the totally clueless Mayor might say. The case will be investigated by the GBI. They do not play politics games. When Atlanta Officers tried to issue a warrant on a house, a 90 year old woman shot the first officer in the vest as he came through the door. The GBI found that the officers were serving the warrant on the wrong house, and there was questions about the statements made to get the warrant. The officers ended up in jail. Yet, there has been other cases where the GBI cleared officers in similar shootings. If the GBI clears the shooting, then the fired officer will be getting his job back. BTW, his firing violated the Atlanta Police Bargaining agreement. The officer was not afforded due process.

Booker seemed to be a good guy. If you ignore the whole driving while under the influence, and falling asleep in a drive thru of a restaurant. (I have yet to meet a liberal that would not have been yelling out the window or laying on the horn for holding up the line. Most that I know would not hesitate to call 911 themselves. Is it possible that some liberal actually called 911 on the drunk?) When he was first talking with the officers, he seemed like a good guy. He seemed like a good guy up to the point that they tried to cuff him. Then he went Dr. Jekyll on them. He fought them, took control of their taser, and attempted to use it on one of the officers. At that point, Mr. Hyde became a bad guy.

Further, DUI is not a vague law. A law against resisting arrest is not a vague law. A law against the use of a weapon against a police officer is not a vague law. The only thing that I can see is vague, is why you think these laws are vague.
