Even if it is half a dozen days a year so what?

I always ensured my kids followed healthy eating habits at home so a few days a year where they may be allowed candy is insignificant.

Let kids be kids and let them have some fun because you cannot change their home eating habits by giving them either a bit of candy or a banana on a few days per year. Whichever group they fall in to.

By the same token, those who are deprived of the fun stuff that their friends are enjoying occasionally will always find a way to satisfy the need elsewhere.

If you don't believe in Halloween, that's fine, give them a piece of fruit as I am sure many people do but don't condemn every kids' family out there who allow their kids to trick or treat as being bad parents (in your opinion) because you think they are all encouraging poor behaviour.

I don't see how celebrating Easter, Christmas or Halloween encourages poor behaviour. I think depriving them of the simple things their peers are allowed to enjoy a few days a year is likely to do more damage, and cause more dysfunction, than a few pieces of candy.

 

My experience has been with illegal use (not personally but in the area I live in) and for terminal illness. Fairly horrible events so I am very biased.

We will have to agree to disagree. The onus is on the parents to adopt a healthy lifestyle for their children imo and thrusting "societal mores" on people isn't going to change how much candy a kid eats. Only calm and balanced education can do that.

A healthy lifestyle is not necessarily one of deprivation. It is one of balance.

 

A few holiday's a year-a kid deserves to indulge.

Why does your post seem to center around Trump, and not the potentially dead children, or the communist/antifa terrorist that claimed to do this?

 

Poisoning, or potentially killing, a child is not something that any sane person would even say even in jest. It's not even remotely funny and if it is true he needs to be held accountable.
