Hello, everybody! I am wondering if anybody likes Nu-Metal? Bands like Bring Me The Horizon (my avatar lel), Get Scared, Mayday Parade, Green Day, Pierce the Veil, Of Mice & Men, Memphis May Fire, Asking Alexandria, Paramore, Flyleaf, We Came as Romans, Evanescence, Bullet for My Valentine, My Chemical Romance, Blessthefall... any of them.

My favorite of these is Bring Me The Horizon, and my favorite song is probably "Snakes Start to Sing", or "Sleepwalking".

    So, opinions?

I'm not much of a nu-metal fan, but I do like bands like Evanescence and Epica simply because of their melodies.

To be honest, I can't stand Asking Alexandria or any of the other metalcore bands that sound like them. Way too much screaming for my tastes.

    BTW, welcome to the forum.

Wait, Green Day counts as Nu-Metal now?
In my days they were simply punk rock.

Some very annoying bands in your list ... the Alexandrias have a 12 year old writing their lyrics and Evanescence are just boring .
I remember listening to Green Day in mid 90's how the hell they became "neo rock" ?

Probably around the time when Billy Joe Armstrong started wearing make-up.

We Came As Romans are actually really good. They're one of the few newer bands I really enjoy.

I like A Skylit Drive too. But I'm not sure they're aware of how silly they come across. They need to dial back the melodrama about 1000%. I doubt they intended for the video for "I'm Not a Thief, I'm a Treasure Hunter" to be funny, but I can't watch it without laughing. The end where the dude just keels over after singing the last line is just so unbelievably bad.

Depending on who you ask, Green Day was never punk. ;)

We know that now because we're older and wiser.
When I heard Dookie I was 17 or 18. Sounded like punk to me then.

I actually think the punkest thing they ever did was go mainstream. Since trying to be punk is never punk. 8)

Digging in my records from the period with bands who sound like Green Day i found : Echo Belly , The Breeders, Foo Fighters , Blink 182, Offspring and from the UK : Suede , Elastica and Therapy , zero of those bands were punk .

Green day is still creating albums, and singing stuff, and it's a genre, not an age indication. I like Country, too.. That doesn't matter if it's 1950's Jim Reeves, singing "Four Walls", or 2010-11 Jason Aldean singing "Dirt Road Anthem". Its all the course of a genre. Also, some of AA's stuff isn't the best I would agree, however Evanescence is pretty glorious.

Thank you for the welcome, Male! And I used to be the same actually lol. I despised the screaming part, but as-per some events, I sort of got into it slowly. First "Miles Away" by MMF, then "When You Can't Sleep At Night", by OM&M... then it randomly shifted, and I liked it all pretty much. Some stuff by OM&M seriously reminds me of Rammstein, actually

"Hope" by We Came as Romans, is pretty awesome (my favorite by them), and yes.. Many of the music videos for some of these bands are stupid - although I am told that they hold different meaning for each. Suicide Silence had some pretty F'd up music videos, before Mitch died. Some are just stupid though, even on some songs like, I watch the videos and I'm like.. "Dafuq was that s**t?". I never really watch the videos though, as I use Spotify, so I'm all set :p

Neo-rock is not a genre it is just something new that takes this generic name until it is defined, The Cure made "new wave" a generic title of the era which was eventually named darkwave ( i am referring to their Pornography LP ).
Evanescence sound like the washed down retarded siblings of Scandinavian female led metal bands ...

I think we are just going to have to agree to disagree on both aspects of this debate lol. I am not quite too sure what constitutes as your music tastes, but it simply does not fit mine  Well, actually, it probably does; I like most music.
