A religion is pretty different that just a 'thinking system' (whatever that means)

They have clergy, temples, supernatural claims. I think you need supernatural claims to really be called a religion, so I don't count statism as one.

Ok, I was into zen for a few years, I never considered Dalai Lama as my leader. I respected him but as a leader of a different branch of buddhism I was never attracted to even if I already met some tibetan buddhism and practiced with them. You have a totally biased vision of buddhism. The dalai lama is even in the whole buddhism absolutly anecdoctical, as only some tibetan, a small part of chinese and mongolian consider him as a religious leader. No japanese buddhism, no therevada buddhism, and even most of mahayana buddhism doesn't consider him as a religious leader.

I am not religious, but I respect all religions for their core beliefs. I am spiritual, which is not subject to, or dependent upon, any religious beliefs. Religion is Earthly & political & dogmatic. Spiritualism is our individual connection to God within ourselves. Spiritualism has no dogma. Evidence has convinced me that whether we believe in reincarnation or not, we are all practitioners. I have also learned that most of us are mature souls who live multiple lives on Earth, for the purpose of spiritual advancement. Earth is like a spiritual university, with each individual life representative of a class of instruction. We choose our own parents, and sometimes our mode of death, before birth. We have much control over our next incarnation, including selecting many of the challenges we will face during our next lifetime, but without planning how we will respond to those challenges. We sometimes pre-plan meeting & possibly marrying our soulmates or spiritual friends during the upcoming incarnation. :)
