AOC is socialist. Is that bad?

They can claim anything they like, but both are flaming Capitalists. The model both subscribe to depends upon a very robust upper class (to pay for all of their 'social luxuries').

 

Europeans want them too but will never have them because Scandinavians do better than average whether in Scandinavia or USA. Using them as an example of socialism would be like using Silicon Valley as a example of capitalism. Honesty never stopped a liberal did it?

 

For all you lefties banging the drum for Sweden style stupidity, I can tell you from personal experience that Sweden is a mess.

As I said in an earlier post, I have relatives there, and we have to ship them a care package of goods twice/year b/c common consumer goods are crazy expensive.

Add that to the fact that jobs and opportunity are, on a scale of 1-10, they are zero.

If you work in government, or are long established with your company?? Your life is aces - and those are the people the media presents to Americans as examples of socialism working.

What they aren't showing you is the struggles of the working class - like my sister-in-law and her family. They barely get by.

Exactly so, and I think most social democrats say as much. The "luxuries" are necessities actually, unless you think the entrepreneurial class can work their societal magic while hanging from lampposts

They (Progressives) need to figure out what they want, before asking for it. Do they want Capitalism with bonus luxuries (like Scandinavia)? Or do they want Socialism?

Omar is a Trump Republican in sheep's clothing. She is doing exactly what Trump and his minions want her to do. She is saying all the right things to ensure Trump's victory in 2020.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan are doing all they can to help her. AOC recently stated that capitalism, the entire basis of the American economy, is a nasty word. Tlaib became newsworthy when she was caught on video telling a MoveOn.org gathering that she had come to Washington to “impeach the motherf---er,” referring to President Trump. Like AOC, she’s a declared democratic socialist, and she has been a harsh critic of the Israeli government, calling for an end to U.S. aid to Israel.

Trump is having a field day with these three. Who can blame him?

 

European luxuries do not exist they live at 50% of our GDP and have chronic unemployment of 10% and in FRance a liberals wet dream riot in the streets despite the confiscatory taxes cant make ends meet.

 

So you are seeking more Capitalism, to fund these social luxuries? You should vote for Trump.

 

We were discussing Scandinavia, not Europe. And even then, Scandinavia's golden days are probably over. Importing millions of people who refuse to participate, will end it.

 

Europe is just like Scandinavia in terms of geography and political philosophy and so far far more representative given its much bigger population. 1+1=2
