Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claimed that Republican Glenn Youngkin won the Virginia gubernatorial election because Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe ran a "100% super moderated campaign" that didn't "energize a progressive base."

"Plus, on the election front. I actually think we have good news as well. I know that Virginia was a huge bummer. And honestly, if anything, I think that the results show the limits of trying to run a fully 100% super moderated campaign that does not excite speak to or energize a progressive base. And frankly, we weren't even really invited to contribute on that race," Ocasio-Cortez said in anInstagram story Wednesday evening, which has since been shared on other social media platforms.

McAuliffe held onto a single-digit lead over Youngkin in the months leading up to Election Day, but was ultimately defeated even after campaigning with President Biden, Vice President Harris, former President Obama, and other top Democrats.…

ell it seems the progressives are still in irrational emotional state after their rebuke nation wide Tuesday. AOC in particular bought into stupid with her comments. She thinks democrats didn’t energize progressives enough! She actually blames her party’s “moderates” for the losses when clearly progressives were the ones we were rejecting Election Day.

Yeah that's what it was. McAuliffe didn't run progressive enough. Why the statement that you don't have a right to comment on your kids education and they really are just property of the state wasn't NEARLY progressive enough!

Exactly! He ran much further to the left this year than he did in 2013.

What I don't understand is why the dems didn't do what they did in the Presidential election. If you can believe the dems stole that election ask yourself why the dems didn't rely on the same trickery to steal the recent elections.

If AOC actually thinks that "energizing Progressives" would have flipped the script in VA, she obviously (in her interpretation of events in VA) has a screw loose.

    AOC is a nice girl.
But it is obvious, that in this case, she is overplaying her hand trying to pander to (what is remaining of) the Progressive Wing.

Going forward, on a National Level, the only chance that the Dems have is moving more toward Moderate Candidates (and away from Radicals like AOC).

AOC is dreaming if she thinks her Ultra-LW BS can fly in contested swing districts.
In the same way that MT Greene is dreaming if she thinks that her Ultra-RW BS could play in a contested swing district.

AOC"s IG Story was nothing more than an attempt to pander to the Progessives (who see their agenda going down the toilet of Joe Manchin)

Because Capt, the way it works (in the mind of the Misguided Conspiratorial Trumpist #StopTheSteal Crowd) is like THIS:

    1) If Their Side Wins--The Election Was "Fair and Square".
    2) If the Other Side Wins--"We Wuz Robbed!"

I wouldn't expect an answer to that.

Sometimes people just rush here to post the latest "Hey Lookie! Dems Bad!" Copypasta (without even understanding what it means).:bored:

Yesterday, in another thread, somrbody made the utterly ludicrous (and completely laughable) claim that "Libertarians picked up hundreds of seats".

Then, when called out, just fled the thread.

VA is a solid blue state, who would ever think trickery would be needed?

Having been born in VA and lived in VA most of my life I can only say VA is should not be considered a solid blue or red State. Northern VA reaching West to Loudoun County is infested with liberals and up until this week's election was growing more liberal every day. To a very large degree, VA feeds on the Federal teat which promotes liberalism. Certainly there is now hope for VA, Going forward, the Republicans need to have calm, issue focused candidates like what we just saw in VA, and avoid the drama of more Trump.

I have said this before, and I will say this again.

Progressives in-tolerence to opposing viewpoints, and their desire to live in their own echo chambers and desire to shut down opposing viewpoints leads them to falsely believe that their ideological agenda is more supported than it actually is. AOC is learning this the hard way.

Oh, they tried. They tried hard... passing 18 different laws that traditionally favor democrat voters. They still failed.

    But they tried.

Republicans claimed all three statewide offices in Virginia, (Gov, Lt Gov, AG) and took control of the state’s House of Delegates
New Jersey State Senate president, Democrat Steve Sweeney was beat by a Truck driver with a $5000 campaign.
A Latino Republican flipped a Democratic seat in South San Antonio; and Democrats were thrashed in local races across Long Island
Meanwhile, centrist Joe Manchin said the Republican victories validated his concerns about moving too quickly on Bidens spending bill.
In Buffalo, New York, Byron Brown declared victory over democratic socialist India Walton
Seattle lost their defund the police vote
Minneapolis lost their replace the police vote

What went wrong is just idiotic wokeness. Don't just look at Virginia and New Jersey. Look at Long Island, look at Buffalo, look at Minneapolis, even look at Seattle, Wash. I mean, this defund the police lunacy, this take Abraham Lincoln's name off of schools. The Democratic Party leadership seems to revel in its tone-deafness that consistently ignores voters concerns, and whose condescending elitist rhetoric and messaging is setting the party up for a catastrophic outcome in 2022 and 2024

And pleases continue to double down on Trumpism, racism, vaccine mandates, and CRT.
Thats how a truck driver with a $5000 campaign budget topples one of NJs top Democrats.

    The lesson is
    Afghanistan disaster
    13 American soldier killed
Family of 9 with 7 kids murdered by Bidens drone strike
    Highest inflation in decades
47 Hospitals closed across the nation with over 300 on the brink
Stalled container ships sitting off the coast
Thousands of first responders, Law Enforcement, air traffic controllers, pilots, medical staff walking off the job
Critical Race Theory being taught in schools
Parents being labeled as Domestic terrorist
$450,000 to every illegal crossing our borders with kids
Outlawed lawn mowers and leaf blowers
A US president held in contempt by UK Parliament
Highest border crossings in history without any attention from the WH
    Grocery prices going up uncontrolled
    Double gas prices
    America losing their energy independence

Hence the lesson learned is to get rid of these idiots. Last Tuesday was just a preview of whats to come. Which is why a truck driver with a $5000 campaign took out one of NJs top democrats and Virginia went red.

    you're welcome lol

You asked about the lessons learned from 2020.

You think wrong, dude. The only "poll" that showed that result was the actual election. ALL the others, including right up until 2 days before had it tight, but with a dem win.

As for AOC and her brand of crazy, I think she REALLY believes that "Defund the Police" and loving on the Communist Manifesto are winning campaign strategies. They're not, even for Democrats. Thank the old gawds and the new!!

Now, if we're lucky (and by we I mean Americans on both sides of the aisle), they won't be able to get ANY of their free this, free that, free free everything bills passed. We can hope anyway.
