"Viktor Bout, in my eyes, is one of the most dangerous men on the face of the Earth," said Michael Braun, who was the chief of operations for the DEA.

Sporting the well-deserved moniker "Merchant of Death," Viktor Bout "helped fuel civil wars across the world by supplying more sophisticated weapons, sometimes to both sides of the bloody conflicts." His justification: "If I didn't do it, someone else would."

In 2012, Bout was sentenced to serve 25 years in prison, being found guilty of "conspiracy to kill Americans and US officials, delivering anti-aircraft missiles and aiding a terrorist organisation."

Ever since that sentence, Putin and the Kremlin have been working for his release. And now, during a proxy war with the United States, what did Russia need to have in order to ensure the return of such evil, characterized as "one of the most dangerous men on the face of the Earth"?

A female basketball player. Nothing else.

No. Not kidding. Totally serious. It truly is sickening.

We can only fathom how much Putin laughed at the absurdity of how much woke politics has wrapped its tentacles around this administration's thinking (or lack thereof), now clearly affecting foreign policy and thus creating irreducibly real risks to national security from a man who, when told that the weapons he would provide would be used to kill Americans, said, "We have the same enemy."

How do I know that intersectional politics played a role in Griner's release? There are two Americans who are also currently serving a lengthy prison sentence in Russia: Paul Whalen and Marc Fogel. Both of them are men. Both of them are white. And both are presumably straight. All of those factors are counted against them in the wicked game of intersectional politics. Why was Griner given priority over both of those men, who were arrested and sentenced prior to Griner? Well, the answer is clear for those who have been paying attention.

This deal is an abomination and one of the worst things a president has done in direct contrast to national security. We gave Russia, we gave the Kremlin, we gave Putin back Bout, the Merchant of Death! And what did the Russians need to get him back? Withdrawal from Ukraine? Money? All American prisoners wrongfully detained in a Russian labor camp? No, no. They just needed Griner, and they knew Biden would cave to his woke base.

And for all those--and I am sure it is all of them--posters on this forum who have a Ukraine flag or some variation thereof in your avatar and also support this deal, let me be clear in no uncertain terms: YOU ARE A HYPOCRITE! YOU ARE PRO-PUTIN!

    Not just a basketball player.
    An American Citizen.

I would hope that if I were ever taken by a foreign country, that my government wouldn't just say, "hey, he's not important enough
    to get back ..."

But that's where you live when you're MAGA.

    Whatever.

Marc Fogel is also an American citizen. And he was sentenced prior to Griner. Additionally, we abandoned many American citizens in our withdrawal from Afghanistan. Therefore, I don't think this administration loves American citizens so much that that would be the solitary reasoning for given up a terrorist who tried to kill Americans, given this administration's policy history, for one, ONE, American, especially an anti-American one who has openly protested the National Anthem. No, no. It was not that. It was woke politics that played a part here.

    Whatever.

I don't recall the OP posting how disgusting it was that the last POTUS released 5K taliban in an exchange.

Did a quick search and found nothing. Now I wonder why that is?

Or on the seriousness of my situation. Griner had been placed in a Gulag that has a high death rate.

Again, just saying, I would hope being an American Citizen would be enough for my government to work hard to get me
out of a foreign country. Griner was being used by the Russians as a political pawn, so getting her out of their hands may be a plus.
I realize trading for an arms dealer was rough, but his incarceration would have no impact on the deals going forward since he was merely an operative
of Putin's - someone else would have immediately taken his place.

It was wrong that Trump did that, and it was wrong that Biden not only followed through on that, but doubled down, abandoning a great many Americans in Afghanistan and, because of the inane way in which we withdrew from Afghanistan, lead to the deaths of 13 servicemen, and left millions of dollars in assets behind, and gave back the country to a terrorist group that harbored the man behind the deaths of over 3,000 Americans on 9/11.

I hope that satisfies your whataboutism implications.

What Biden did in both scenarios was worse. He saw that Trump made a bad decision, and instead of doing the right thing, he said, "Hold my beer."

Seriousness of the situation? Hrmmm...let's see.

    Regarding Marc Fogel
    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/worl...ined-in-russia-as-griner-released/ar-AA1545Of

"It noted that Fogel has not received proper medical care while in detention and his health has deteriorated as a result. He has a "substantial medical history of spinal disease, which requires continuous monitoring, regular doctor visits and access to adequate emergency services," the statement said."

Wanna try again? Just own up that this administration is racist. We all knew it was. We've been telling you it is and your denial just makes your arguement look incredibly ignorant.

All the Americans who wanted to leave Afghanistan have left, There are some with family or connections who have DECIDED to stay -

The withdrawal was sloppy, but no servicemen have died since, which makes Biden's death toll in Afghanistan less than Trump's.

I’m not nearly important enough to be traded for this evil man. Of course, I’m not stupid enough to bring illegal substances into evil countries.

Leaving the intersectional politics out of it, if I was visiting another country, and I broke the laws of that country, I, too, would not expect my government to trade me for someone who's responsible for the deaths of a great many people, and who conspired to kill Americans. And it would make me sick to my stomach if my government did so.

That is absolutely false. 800 Americans have been evacuated after the Taliban took over, and the effort to evacuate the rest is ongoing.

Again, to say that it was only because Griner was an American citizen and that was why she was traded for a ****ING ARMS DEALER does not correspond to the facts of how this administration treats Americans citizens abroad when making policy decisions, from those that were abandoned in Afghanistan to Whalen and Fogel in Russia, both of whom have been serving longer sentences than Griner. Maybe if Griner was one of the American citizens in Afghanistan, perhaps we would not have rushed the withdrawal, leaving behind over a 1,000 American citizens, millions of dollars in assets, and resulting in 13 servicemen deaths.

The only reason any of us know about Griner is because she’s black, gay and was most likely a man at birth (I’ve seen numerous topless photos, he has no boobs and no scars indicating their removal.) The only reason Griner was traded for an arms dealer with gallons of blood on his hands is because she’s black, gay and most likely a man at birth.

Anyone who thinks Putin doesn’t have psychologists analyzing Biden’s weaknesses so he can be exploited is just denying the fact that Biden really does have weaknesses that can be exploited, most notably his dementia and extreme anti American wokeness.

You have proof that the Biden administration did not try to get Fogel out at the same time but the Russians simply said "no" to that attempt?
    Yes or no.

If there was an attempt, it was a weak one. Do you have any proof that they did?

Given the history of this administration making decisions on intersectional lines, from nominating a female black Supreme Court justice who does not know what a woman is to the current Press Secretary, there is more evidence that this administration used intersectional politics when making their decision on who to release for an arms dealer.

Either way, it does not matter. It does not make the deal absolutely terrible, even if they did try to get Fogel or Whalen.

If we are to believe the Biden administration and take them at their word that the Russians said Griner or no one--and that is asking a lot--then the right thing to do would be to walk away from the table, not surrender the Merchant of Death for Griner.

To be for this trade is to be pro-Putin, and I foresee a lot of Ukrainian death in the immediate aftermath of this negotiation.

You assumed that there was no attempt to get to get Fogel. You admit you have no proof of that. Thank you.

As for the arms guy - his operation was part of the Putin government anyway, so there was no interruption just because he arrested. They
just moved to the next in command. This won't impact the war in any significant way.

You are very limited if you don’t realize how many women in sports have very small breasts. Are you saying every women with A cup breasts are men?

Have you seen the pictures? Pictures of topless women are not allowed on numerous social media outlets, but Griner’s are. Telling.

Hunt down the pics, a few have been posted on this board, and tell me if Griner’s knobs are very small or none existent for a woman of any kind.

Here’s a link to two pics.

You asked me if I have proof that the Biden administration did not try to negotiate Fogel's release. Thus, you are asking me to prove a negative, which is logically absurd.

While we are at it, prove that dragons don't exist.

As I responded, it does not matter if the Biden administration did or not; it's still a bad deal.

But, to turn the question back on you, I asked you if you have proof that they did try to get Fogel released, which is not logically absurd.

    Do you have proof?

    @Daniel Light

Here's some more evidence that they did not try to get Fogel out. The Biden State Department does not consider Fogel's detainment wrongful:

    "
Mr. Fogel has not been designated by the State Department as 'wrongfully detained.'
    "

Ah, so giving up 5,000 Taliban for NOTHING is OK to rightists. Giving up a 56 year old Russian with ill health for an American is unforgivable to rightists.

    Yeah, makes perfect sense.

Also, ask any of our Military service members if they would much rather go back into Afghanistan for Christmas rather than be home with their families. I'm sure you would call them dirty leftists once you heard their answer.

I'll tell ya what though, if that crappy military equipment we left in that hell hole is that important to ya, I can link you to flights into Kabul. You and other rightists can go collect all of that garbage since it means the world to ya.

God speed and I'll pray for your safe return.
