Some would wonder why the police would do such a thing, and some would say that the police are incapable of doing such a thing... It's definitely reasonable to say that if there was no proof, then one should not speculate, and it would be fair if some people even waived it off as carzy conspiracy talk. But then you look at the above and you wonder...what if no one was actually able to identify these two. What if they succeeded in inciting a riot which lead to a police crackdown? While that question rolls around, ask the much more important one. Why? Why were they doing this? There were plenty of people there- one could say almost all- who were dressed normally and acted peacefully. These guys weren't just impersonating protesters, like undercover work. They were impersonating radicals who were not even present. You could have taken them for insurgents if this video was shot in the Middle East. In your own words, or in reflection of your own sentiments, reasons, or justifications for this, why would the police do this? (shocker: none of the police officers were charged)
People seem to be confusing conspiracy theories with reality recently. I believe it is because what our government is doing is so unbelievable, something no one would think would ever happen here, that there is cognitive dissonance. Edit: To the thread subject, I haven't watched the video, but my guess is that it would be done for two reasons: 1) discredited the message of the protest group by making them look like bad, anti-government people who want to destroy society. 2) destroy the will of the protesters by bringing "justifiable" violence against them. Makes sense to me. Turn the protesters into social pariahs so that the masses will want violence used against them then use "justified" violence to break them. End of issue.
Maybe this will encourage these protestors to both organize better and police themselves better internally, so they could deal with these infernal rat infestations like Tony Soprano.
Having watched the video, judging by their body language, I would say that it is highly likely that they were cops. Guys with masks and rocks in their hands don't usually bee-line to the heavily armed police when asked to drop their rocks by fellow protesters. They seemed very intent on keeping their faces covered but had no qualms about going straight into the hands of the police. It is very clear who they were trying to hide their identity from.
Very good point. That was my major groan about this video- that no one was able to uncover their faces. I think if they were, they might have been able to stick in memory, they would be an enduring symbol for all who saw them, and they probably would have been fired because...how can you field them again after being on TV in that light. But faceless...it's as if it was no one, and you can't fire the Police. Carry on...
These protestors need to organize rat patrols and take these trashbags somewhere in the woods where no one will ever find them.
