Are Trump's comments about the murder of Jamal Khashoggi (10/15) indicative of isolationism?

My question is: Has America become an isolationist country and if so, what are the possible repercussions?

On his way with Melania to fly to Florida to inspect the damage caused by hurricane Michael, Trump answered some questions from the press, which for me, are very concerning.

In a response to the question as to whether or not the Saudis are responsible, he said that he spoke with the King of Saudi Arabia and they are cooperating with the investigation but firmly denying any knowledge of it. Trump went on.."I can't get into his mind but it sounded to me like maybe these could have been rogue killers, who knows?" 'Rogue killers' inside the Saudi consulate, really?

This statement made it clear to me that Trump plans to let this whole thing blow over because he has no intention, not in the slightest, of punishing Saudi Arabia with sanctions. He wants their oil and he wants to sell them military hardware. As I said before, his speech at the U.N. has given license to any country to just go ahead and do as they wish because the U.S. is all about 'America First' and don't give a damn what atrocities other countries commit. Essentially that was the core of his speech to every nation, 'do what you want to do and we'll stay out of your dirty business and worry abut us, not anyone else.' So, expect more assaults on global democracies, and expect an increase in humanitarian crises. The rest of the world isn't even listening to Trump, they only know that the USA is no longer the peacekeeper and moral compass for the world.

In response to the news that Elizabeth Warren had a DNA test and it showed strong evidence of native American ancestry, he replied; "who cares?" When the reporter reminded him that he offered to donate one million dollars to charity if she would take a DNA test that can prove her genetic link to Native Americans, he said "I never said that, go back and read it again."

He's so gifted at misspeaking. He should have some kind of educational establishment to teach others this talent. FoxU.

The World and it's players are a challenging place.

Good thing less informed people aren't the ones making decisions.

As to Warren, 1/32nd to 1/500th is strong evidence of Native American Ancestry?

Given the evolution of homo sapiens, there is strong evidence I am a Black Native American White Ethiopian…...

I dont know about isolationism, since we will still trade and will still protect the sea lanes. But I can see us switching to a more neutral stance towards the world. I wonder what the world would be like if we acted like Switzerland? How would the world like China or Russia being the global power that runs things?

They indicate Dirty Donald thinks less of human life than a promise to buy U.S.weapons of destruction and the further taking of more lives.Greed conquers all.

I don't think so. Trump has financial ties to SA that he considers above all else. And being friends with SA means that we have to be their de facto military arm.

I hope the House flips so we can find out all of the conflicts we have been sending troops into. Trump has been concealing that since he took office.

Naw they talk a lot in Russia and China is spending money all over but neither has the force projection and economic strength combined that we have. China COULD be that some day but they will need a much larger and modern navy along with a willingness to send troops globally. The Russians are just regional players with nukes now so they just dont have the power or money.

Of course if we were not there then the vacuum would be filled. My guess it would start as region dominance by Russia and China, then which ever one can leverage that the quickest would become the next dominant country.

Warren having less Native American DNA than the average white American is not impressive. I'm not sure the exact wording Trump used if he phrased it badly he should give her the million (and a couple of regular white working class people as a press stunt).

As for the Saudi thing, I think it's indicative of a rejection of "isolationism" (ie: what used to be American foreign policy orthodoxy before trillion dollar wars every 2 decades). He clearly wants to preserve the delicate balance of alliances in the middle east.

If he starts bowing to the King, then worry.
That was beyond concerning, it was flat out embarrassment on a global stage.

By global scale do you mean FOX and Breitbart?

Trump has embarrassed our country more than all of the previous Presidents combined.

    Ummm....you see...we have this president...sigh...

Have you done a dna test? You might be surprised. All humans tested so far link to an African ancestry.
And yes, Warren has clear evidence of Native ancestry, even if it's from long ago.

Trump's words are indicative of Trump's person attitude towards Saudi Arabia, one of his long-time piggy banks and one he obviously continues to have hope in for the future. It need not signal anything related to isolationism, although Trump's retarded selfishness masquerading as foreign policy does seem to be having that effect to some extent. Mainly it is eroding our credibility on the world stage and telling murderous dictators that they pretty much have free rein in Trump's untanned eyes.

Isolationism? No, but would have been better to leave out the "we'll send them the weapons anyway" comment while they were still investigating. Just say we are investigating, and will discuss punishment, and then let the whole thing die down. There isn't much we can do without causing ourselves more harm.

We all have evidence of every form of ancestry in the species referred to as Homo Sapiens.

So, where does that leave anyone? Define the percentage of some ancestral heritage that makes somebody one thing or the other.

Wait, I thought this is what we wanted? I sure do.

It frustrates me that Democrats are going back and forth on this issue to attack Trump no matter what his position.

This isn't isolationist imo, this is just not being the worlds police. Exactly what Trump said he would do
