I seriously doubt that this is the case. Too many deaths on Russian side. And there are all signs out there suggesting that Pootin envisioned a blitzkrieg. He was feeding his best diversion groups into the meat grinder at Gostomel airport. It took them like what, 5-10 attempts to take it? And those were supposed to be well trained troops to go and attack from behind enemy lines, right into the heart of the capital city. Why can’t you guys accept the simple reality that Russian corruption turned Russian military into dust? Look at the tires in their vehicles, or the skills of their fighter pilots. Corruption resulted in substandard maintenance due to thefts on all levels, including fuel to properly train them.
As for new toys like tanks - pretty much everything in Russia is a lie. They developed a new tank (that stalled at a parade, by the way), probably built like 5-10, and the rest of the funds were split among a general and his support officers who enabled the scheme. In 2018 they were showcasing attack drones. None of them were used in Ukraine 4 years later.

This war showed that Pootin is the emperor with no clothes.

Please bear with me. I'm not a military expert.

Here's why what you've described doesn't make sense. Prior to invading the Ukraine, Putin had a reputation as a no holds barred, former KGB dictator, expert in martial arts, etc. and he has nuclear weapons.

Some people, like you, obviously know more about the inner workings and how their army and equipment weren't quite up to the hype. Therefore, it makes LESS sense to invade a Ukraine and show just how impotent they really are.

He could have threatened nuclear war and waited for other countries to break a sweat.

It does make sense to send in the B team if that's all it takes but that's clearly not all it takes. Did you post the other day they've lost 8 or 9 generals? Some people between the foot soldiers and Putin is working for the other side. There has to be a double-agent (or plural) for this to be botched this badly. I'm just a former police officer and there is no way any tactical team is going to dispatch X number of Barney Fifes.

He looks weaker and weaker every day this massacre continues.

Yes....the corruption ...for the most part, ate away at the Russian military capability....and....as long as Putler is in charge....that corruption will continue to gnaw away at the Russian DoD.....afaic.....there was no reason for 7 generals to get whacked in less than a month.....never mind the countless Colonels, Majors, Lieutenants, etc....basically an entire officers Corp also to get whacked also.....communications also.....basically anyone who could eavesdrop on the Russkis conversations....did eavesdrop. May as well carry a big placard and say "Shoot me"..... just saying.....there's no way any other country could possibly tolerate numerous generals killed like here.

I've heard of double agents....I also heard that US intelligence has penetrated many levels of Russian military.....it's all speculation....afaic,anyway.

It's an informed opinion and my interpretation of the situation makes sense.

Don't you think Russia can take care of themselves? I don't think Russia needs anyone to do their attacks in Ukraine.

I'm not a military strategist but it doesn't sound like they are doing such a good job at that if US media sources are to be believed.

As an outside observer, it appears that Putin has been betrayed on many levels. I thought he had the impression that China would have his back but they appear lukewarm publicly. Of course, there is no honor among psycho dictators so who knows?

I am just heartbroken that all these kids are being sent to die over some crazy ramblings inside somebody's head. He's said to be an outdoor rugged type with a black belt in some martial art. He needs to hop a plane or whatever he needs to get there and go one-on-one with Zelensky.

Russia shouldn't involve any other country to fight their battles against Ukraine. It just isn't done.

When they have to send tugboats with their only aircraft carrier just so it can make it to Tartis after it breaks down, there is something very wrong. As far as I know their only working carrier is the Kuznetsov. Plus what ever anti-tank weapons we've been sending is most effective against the Russian tanks. I see an awful lot of Russian tanks with the turret blown off. This is a design flaw that put the auto loading cannon magazine in a circle just below the turret. Our latest and greatest anti-tank missiles actually dives down on the target hitting the weak armor on the top deck. Apparently this causes the magazine shell explode too, with enough force to lift a 45 ton turret right in the air.

Did they really think that the Ukraine didn't expect an invasion from Russia. The Ukraine had years to prepare the defensible positions around Gostomel airport and many other places.
