As one of the millions of US veterans I'm deeply concerned about the GOP policies and agenda that will adversely affect our nation's veterans. President Trump gives lip-service to our veterans his lack of knowledge about the issues and concerns that those of us using the VA medical facilities, and the almost two million that don't qualify and depend upon Medicaid, we take no comfort in Trump's empty words.

Many may not realize but just because a person served in the military, and even may have military related health issues like PTSD, that alone doesn't allow the veteran to use the VA medical services. It's often an uphill battle just to get the VA to accept that a veteran has a service related medical issue. Claims for combat related PTSD can take years to establish under the law where the VA must assume that a veteran filing a claim is a liar and trying to screw the government.

Proposals for private medical facilities to be used by the VA, pushed for by Republicans, as opposed to fully funding the VA to add facilities and personnel are opposed by virtually all veteran organizations. Use as a stop-gap measure it didn't actually solve the delays in treatment that could still run six months or more waiting on the correct paperwork to be processed.

Health care for veterans by the VA needs to be a universal benefit of service and it should also include their family members. We need to end the nefarious "qualifications" requirement for both the veteran and those that are a part of their household. "If you served then you receive lifetime medical services from the VA" needs to be the new law of the land. All of the medical services need to be provided for by the VA (except in vary rare cases of unusual medical conditions) and the VA must be funded, staffed, and the facilities and equipment necessary must be provided without any penny-pinching by Congress.

We served the nation's needs when Congress wanted us to and now it's time for Congress to step up and generously provide for our needs. Cutting Medicaid benefits that so many veterans rely on, including the treatment of service related medical problems, is unacceptable.

The current GOP health care bill that slashes funding to Medicaid is going to effectively murder America's veterans. Remind your senators of that fact.

The GOP doesn't give a **** about anyone in this country, I thought they made that pretty clear when they opposed freedom measures like universal healthcare, legalizing marijuana, Unions, etc.
