There isn't anything unusual about it.

Health insurance premiums, and health care costs in the US routinely grew at double digit rates thoughout the Bush years, and the Obama years before the ACA was passed.

A lot of analyists expected that the passage of the ACA was only going to provide a temporary break in the dismal trend.

Now, it's time to reform the system.

One obvious things come to mind.

The pubic option.

Make any individual or group eligible for Medicaid for a premium to be set by the accountants at the Dept of Health and Human Services.

People will flock to it.

And, in the end, it will force private insurers to actually manage their costs , something they're not used to.

There is one, and only one real reason why US health care costs per capita are twice what most people in modern countries pay. And that is the distorted marketplace the industries hide behind.

Obama, fellow Democrats and their Liberal media all loudly and proudly claimed that ACA would REDUCE HEALTH INSURANCE PREMIUMS, and acted as though they could read the future.

Right on schedule..... Rates rising by 22% and the goal of 28 million payers short by 15 million subscribers. Obamacare was predicted to fail and it has before Obama has left office. The stool sample Pelosi told us about has resulting in systemic failure of the subject.

Bernie and Hillary have both stated that Obamacare has problems and needs repairs. Unlike Republicans, they don't want to destroy the entire program because it has a few flaws. Destroying the program will result in at least 15 million Americans losing access to basic medical care for themselves and their families. That's too cold and uncompassionate for me, and I hope for most Americans.

 

Maybe Hillary will have more support from the cons to do away with the insurance companies being in the healthcare system and go to single payer or just develop Medicare into the universal health service.
Then we just have to keep the fraud and corruption that patients or doctors/hospitals will try to use in the system.
But more, we need a new paradigm for health care.
Preventive healthcare is a worthwhile investment that is ultimately cheaper than treating developed health problems.
I work in the UK and have never had to worry about insurance forms or whether my condition is covered.
When I am ill, I go to the local GP who treats me or refers me to a specialist. There is never any talk about money.
We should try it in the US.

 

The AP may be correct.

There still are problems that have to be ironed out.

But at some point...Obamacare will be seen as the base for a system that finally moved the United States out of the barbarity of its medical care system into something more sane...into something more closely resembling what the rest of the world enjoys.

And of course, the nut cases of the far right will claim THEY were the ones who first championed it!

It has more than a "few flaws" and the plan, which is now clear for all to see (hopefully), is to raise the cost of health care so high that all but the wealthiest are driven out of private health care and through rank dishonesty and deception, we are forced to
adopt single payer government controlled health care which was predicted and identified all the time this long game has gone on.

Taking apart Obama Care is necessary because you can't "fix" a plan designed to fail.
A new plan that is fairer to all, not just to the uninsured, should be put in it's place and the rank dishonesty of Obama Care (and all the Jonathan Grubers plotting out the scheme in secret) and it's supporters should not be rewarded by perpetuating it.

Regardless of what the AP is reporting, the bottom line is that Obamacare is a first step in the right direction regarding America's dismal healthcare system. It has many flaws...and they will be sorted out and dealt with...by liberal administrations...and despite the obstruction the conservatives in congress will try to impede things.

We'll get there...to where almost the entire industrialized world already is...and where many third world countries also are.
