Millions are attracted to ISIS style terrorism. Very few are attracted by the violence. The result is violence but the drivers, the things which impel those millions to be attracted to it, are the psychological traps - it's censored, forbidden, exotic, different, a counter culture, a place where they belong.

I noticed that the leader of Turkey (Erdogan) made a comment that this guy had a lot in common with ISIS. And while the religion/ideology might not be the same, the tactic certainly was. Banning the ability to defend oneself from violence makes government the only responsible party then, which can then also never be counted on to protect you. Just ask the nice folks in Syria. Your position is use the tragedy to create a larger one, that of ensuring that folks will always be victims waiting for a government who will never show up unless they are using their own guns to subjugate the folks at the end of them. I just never understand folks who so brazenly use tragedies like this to further inflict their own pejorative authoritarianism and fascism on the people they seem to hate so much.
