This is very interesting. Is Australia hurting for people that badly, or are they trying to take advantage of the plethora of combat experienced American military personnel? CNN's salary figures for the U.S. military are wrong, as they clearly didn't do their research on BAS/BAH stipends......something I'd expect from a news organization that was taking "expert" comments from a fake Navy SEAL.

Well if they need C-130 drivers, maybe I'd consider it. The article mentions the F-16...
not much help with that airframe.

Australia wants to expand their navy and air force but lack the experienced personnel to do so in a short period of time, they're also eying an offer from us to lease some Virginia-class nuclear attack subs which unless they intend to lease the crew too they need their own guys able to do so.

Perhaps Australians are fed up with dying for the US cause and expect in the future that Americans do it for them.

    From the RAAF recruiting page...
    Age:
Men and women aged 17–43 can apply, but we prefer if you are under 27.

Rules me out...unless they provide age waivers for someone already trained and experienced.

On to the topic. I can tell you exactly why Australia is looking to beef up their military with experienced American troops...

    China.

The RAAF has a number of C-130s in service. I see quite a few in a given week, don't know if they have Learner plates on though ;-)

Yep, best to give it a miss. Anyway we're all chauvinist pigs here, I don't think we even let our females fly in combat yet.

I've worked with Australian military personnel in the past, and you're good people (not chauvinistic either), but I have more of a problem with the fact that all wildlife can kill you. I'll stay in the safe USA.

Not yet, but all military roles will shortly be open to women in Australia making us one of the very few countries to do so.

Before anyone says, "Oh, but blah blah does that too," most countries that allow women to fill roles don't allow them to go to combat. This new rule in Australia will allow all military positions to be filled by women and allow them to serve in combat in all roles.

We have the problem where our economy is going quite strong and so we don't have enough people in Australia to fill the jobs that this economy boom has opened. This seems to be a problem with the military as people don't tend to join the military as often during good times.

So your incontinence Depends on the use of a public convenience? Don't you have the basic necessities of a toilet bowl at home?

Seems you like to fly by the seat of your pants.

Sounds like Western Canada recently. Salaries are high in jobs that are generally low-paying. They need people to fill the positions desperately. Not a bad thing, yet.

    Never trust a cute animal.

    Well played, sir. Well played.

I am not camping in a North American wilderness...unless it's in a vehicle that is a cross between a Bushmaster and a Winnebago (a very luxurious Winnebago).
