The actions of our governments have been well supported...don’t be influenced by the actions of the lunatic fringe who watch too much American tv...

And you are misinformed. I go jogging unmasked most afternoons. My work colleagues go surfing or bike riding, without masks, as we can do freely. I do wear a mask in closed areas such as the grocery store, as required.

Nations that still claim to be "progressive Western democracies" are being transformed into garrison states.

Letting doctors offer effective treatments would have been helpful.

And yet, studies have shown that lock-downs did not stop or slow the spread, however had a substantial mental and economic impact to society!

The only thing that has been accomplished from these lock-downs is people have been divided exponentially. The tribes have been formed and it's only a matter of time that eventually the elitist will have to face the non-conformers.

This may be the real reason Cuomo finally had to go:

"Governor Cuomo said, “we are looking at months of shutdowns and the economic, mental and spiritual hardships they bring. We need to act now. If we don’t, dining will remain at levels too low for restaurants to survive, offices will remain empty, hurting the service business that depend on those office workers, theaters and sports venues will sit empty, people will remain out of work.” Continuing, “the inequalities and injustices that COVID exacerbated"
KUSI NEWS, Governor Cuomo backtracks on support for lockdown policies, January 12, 2021.

Please don’t give advice to a country that has been “exponentially” more successful in dealing with the pandemic than your own…

I have no ambition to give advice to a country who so, and historically, easily relinquished personal freedoms to their government handlers in the name of safety.

I do give credence to those that have chosen liberty and freedom over a totalitarian state. Least not forget how tyranny starts.

    Niemöller
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Damn. Poor Australia. I guess they got swept up in watching our antivaxxists over here act like babies over wearing a mask.

And if you read the details, rather than just the headlines, you would find out how wrong you are. This morning, I will go to the grocery store and I will walk there as part of my daily exercise. I won’t wear a mask, but I will have one in my pocket and will put it on when I enter the store. I teach mathematics at our local high school and, while our students are being home schooled at the moment, a smaller number attend as they are the children of essential workers. I go to the school several times a week to assist in teaching those kids. I do not wear a mask while driving, but I do when in the building. The rest of the time, I work from a home office, contacting my students online.

My life has changed little. Like the vast majority of the people in my state and country, I support the actions of our governments in dealing with the crisis. The fringe idiots that you admire do not represent our communities…

    Ironically poor metaphor…

‘Cattle’ are led to slaughter…as a proud citizen who has witnessed 650,000 of his countrymen needlessly slaughtered, I think you know where you can deposit your advice…

Australia has handled the pandemic probably worse than any other 'free' country in the World. Chinese people living in Communist Authoritarian China now have more freedoms than Australians.

There is a time limit on treating people like prisoners. Some people don't understand that the loss of life is no less tragic when thrown away in days or weeks. Good on them for standing up to abuse of power.

You think Australia has handled it worse than any other country?
    Deaths per 1 million population:
    USA 1,949
    Australia. 38
That’s right, the death rate per million is more than 50 (fifty) times worse in USA than in Australia.
Apply the Australian rate to USA and you have something like 15,000 deaths instead of over 650,000.

Sure as long as Australia stayed locked down.. Soon as they reemerge nature takes charge and the numbers soar... Unless you're saying Australian news is a lie? That would explain a lot if that's the case! Clearly Australia's success is from lockdowns and very limited social interaction. Living in a bubble for the rest of your life is hardly living!!

I know. Try this here and there will be blood in the streets.

Australia won't even let their own citizens back in the country that were trapped in other countries.

Live in your prison for the rest of your life then. This crap isn't going away...it will become a seasonal thing. You can run but you can't hide....that is unless you never want to be free again.

I think Australia is now worse than France when it comes to talk and action. China cost your freedom yet Aussies don't do a damn thing to China......must be too busy shipping coal across Asia and then telling the U.S. we need to cut carbon emissions because we can afford it but Australia can't. It's quite pathetic really, what Australia has become.

BTW, you left out the fact that the U.S. has cured seasonal FLU (sarcasm because common sense says the left is counting flu cases as covid cases to control people's freedoms). Zero Flu cases since this covid farce began. Zero. We usually have 60,000 or so seasonal flu deaths:

    https://time.com/5610878/2018-2019-flu-season/

"Even still, high early-season vaccination rates and a relatively effective annual vaccine appeared to help suppress illnesses. In total, the CDC estimates that up to 42.9 million people got sick during the 2018-2019 flu season, 647,000 people were hospitalized and 61,200 died. That’s fairly on par with a typical season, and well below the CDC’s 2017-2018 estimates of 48.8 million illnesses, 959,000 hospitalizations and 79,400 deaths."

How many cases of flu did you have??

Nope. We don't have any vaccinated people in hospital.

Lets put that into a percentage. 1949 out of 1,000,000 is still less than 2%. For healthy people, the risk is less than 1%. If people are afraid of that low risk, they should feel free to curl up in a ball and shiver for a year or two. They calculate the risk and chose to lose a year or two of life to avoid the risk of losing it all. Your life-Your choice.

Comparing the risk, if the average lifespan is 83 years, living like a prisoner for 1.5 years represents close to a 2% loss of living. (Unless one enjoys confinement. I have a gecko that loves living under a rock!)

If I live life on my terms, my risk is less than 1%.

I would rather die on my feet than live like a gecko!

Why is that? Are you saying your vaxxed are getting a better vaccine then say other vaxxed around the planet? Sadly we and other countries have vaxxed people in hospitals..

Going out on a limb here but, I think Australia mandated and forced lockdown is the only difference. Clearly when reintroduced in to society covid is still waiting with open arms..
