They seek to institute two standards of consequences, one for them, where they suffer no consequences for anything and another for their political opponents, where they tip toe around carefully and are repeatedly banned and censored for not quickly and enthusiastically shouting the approved lines with enough passion.

Perhaps they can have everyone start inform on their neighbors whenever they sense free-thought "sins".

Winning by the skin of your teeth in some states is normal.
Biden won three states decided by less than 1%, Georgia, Arizona and Wisconsin. Total 36 electoral votes. Without those three states you'd have a 269-269 tie.
2016 Trump won three states decided by less than 1%, Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania. 46 electoral votes. Without those three states, Hillary wins 278-260
2012 Florida was the only state decided by less than 1% which Obama won. 29 electoral votes. The loss of Florida would have made no difference, Obama would have still won.
2008 McCain won Missouri by less than 1% and Obama won North Carolina by less than 1%. A change in either on wouldn't have made a difference.
2004 Kerry won Wisconsin, Bush won Iowa and New Mexico by less than 1%. A change in any of the 3 wouldn't have made a difference.

And so on with Florida in 2000. Now one can't complain about three close state losses in 2020 and accept the three close wins in 2016. These things happen all the time, it's the norm. You always have 2-4 states that are within a single point.

things seem to have gotten far too emotional and inflammatory. The calm of reason must be part of the solution.

Social media has its own problems. People seek the opinions / "news" that fit their existing belief systems.. & preconceived ideas ...so it becomes self reinforcing. ....and closes the mind to other view points that might be very different ,but just as valid. Maybe it is old fashioned: but folks don't have to agree, but they should respect each other. We are all human beings and that seems to be lost in the current critical phase of this country. No one is perfect and no one is absolutely right or wrong. Perhaps we have stopped listening to each other.
