Thank you, rahl. You were my first real antagonist here in this forum, and it's good to see your bootheel aimed at my face again. I take delight in your condemnation of my belief that the earth is flat, that it is 5,000 years old, and that I am stupid and retarded, and (of course) infused with birther idiocy. I have learned at least one useful thing as I have grown older, and that is patience. A day is coming, rahl, but you won't like it. You will face it with disbelieving misery, and there will be no comfort in the memory of how much you reveled in the joy you took in cursing the rest of us who did not believe in Obama or anything about him but his desire to mangle this country into a mournful socialist mediocrity. It begins in little more than a month from now.

 

At least right now, I can make myself accept the idea that Obama was born in Hawaii, Dan, and that may surprise you. Even more surprising to you may be the fact that it is made more palatable for me to do so because a person of your calibre, and that of some other fundamentally good, well-meaning liberals who post here do sincerely believe in the truth of Obama's credentials. I entertain no delusion that I am infallible in my opinions about most things, and I must admit that my suspicions about Obama grew as much out of his evasiveness and the unlikeliness of the series of strange, inexplicable events in his life as anything else. If he were truly an open, transparent person it would be much easier to trust him.

And, yes, mistrust about one thing bleeds over into mistrust about others, too. Because I have greatly mistrusted his actions revealed in everything from unconstitutional bail-outs to unconstitutional Obamacare, right on through unlawful breaking of the War Powers Resolution, the lasting impression is that this is a man who rules as an autocrat and cannot be trusted.

But we must be a society ruled by law, and order. And the very institutions, departments, and bureaus we have in place, high and low, must be accorded a certain amount of baseline credibility if we are to even function as a people. Therefore, for the sake of law, and order, and with something of an acknowledgement to what I believe to be honorable sincerety in persons like yourself, and Iriemon, I'll accept the lawful Hawaiian birth statements and move on. The election is going to be heated enough, and then we can concentrate on issues, and the specifics they are based in. Cheers.
