I guess they're not doing 'broken windows' policing anymore. Would this make you more or less inclined to live there? Could the success of this be replicated elsewhere:

For 4 years the left hollered about no one being above the law (except illegals), so now they come up with a list of laws that you can be above if they "criminalize mostly people of color," (her words, not mine). Sweet deal when you can get it.

Also, Ms Mosby seems to have gone under the cosmetic surgery knife, she's appears to be trying to look less ethnic, almost Michael Jacksonesque.

nah, the article states that it's permanent (whatever that means in politics)

anyway, if you can't reduce the crime rate, just redefine what constitutes a crime; crime rate goes down, problem solved.

Trump based his campaign on the idea that some laws are racist, be glad to see some are listening to him

Victimless crimes. No reason to clog up the prisons and destroy lives over stupid stuff like this.

Neither drug possession nor prostitution should be a crime, so this is a step in the right direction

Then legalize it.. Its ****ing stupid to have laws on the book and then say you are not going to enforce them because you are lead by a racist...

Ah true... but it was a success. So you know.
And the cops, who got branded to be a bunch of racist by their own US justice department, are made to find some real crooks.
I mean... sure people are criminal. But lets not forget about crooked cops.

Both phrases mean to go slowly to achieve an objective. The second means to go carefully too or you may lose the opportunity altogether. (the monkey flees).

The reactionary forces are fully primed here in MD. Representative Andy Harris who thinks George Soros personally campaigns against him and has had to be pried off Trump's leg with a crowbar on his last visit has been having nonstop showings of Reefer Madness on giant screens towed by planes over the entire Eastern Shore. Millions of chickens are said to be hysterical.

I agree with this. I’m fine with people not being punished for this stuff, but if that is the case, you have to make it legal. You can’t enforce some laws and not others, or the whole system becomes a joke. Nobody knows what they can and can’t do, and if someone does get the book thrown at them while others walk out Scott free, it will look like racism or favoritism, or something similar. You can’t half ass law enforcement.

    Sounds great!

    Prostitution- victimless crime
    Drug posession- vitctimless crime
Urintating in public- well, mostly victimless. Prolly shouldn't let folks do it near schools, or it WILL turn into an excuse to expose oneself to minors... which I hope we can all agree is something we shouldn't tolerate. Tho, with that many people, the place is going to smell like piss pretty quick. I'm glad I don't live there. Assuming they're trying to save money by not prosecuting minor offenses, perhaps they could save just as much by placing portable bathrooms around the problem areas?

One question- what are the other 'low level' crimes? Seattle, for example, has developed a tendency to not prosecute shoplifters. As a result, shoplifting has skyrocketted and small retail businesses that can't absoarb the loss are going under or leaving, which is pretty great for the big retail businesses. To be fair, this is more of a result of expensive prosecutions than it is any preferential treatment (as many are accusing), but the chaotic effects its having on the marketplace are no less severe.

I was not able to find a comprehensive list of all the crimes that Baltimore will now be ignoring, just 'among others'. I gotta wonder how many of 'others' are victimless, and how many of them are just the city getting away with not protecting its productive citizens (whom will soon leave as a result).

To liberals, the definition of a low level crime is that it's committed by someone non-white.

what it probably really is is organized crime bribing the mayor to look the other way when they are conducting business. I can’t imagine a better set of conditions for organized crime to thrive in than a city where some laws are just arbitrarily not enforced. They could get away with so much and not come under scrutiny because that is the official policy, just ignoring the law.

This is a small step in the right direction but thi really needs to get a scotus ruling. The government, whether it’s federal or state, has absolutely zero legal authority to regulate sex between consenting adults. If a financial transaction takes place, that is irrelevant as long as both parties are legal adults. The government also has zero authority to regulate what a person can or can not ingest. DUI laws? Certainly. Mere possession or ingestion of any drug they have no authority to regulate.

Perhaps. Tho that already happens. Theoretically, now the small time drug sellers and sex workers that can't afford to bribe the police can compete in those markets, while the retaliatory tactics of the bigger outfits are still (hopefully) illegal.

Hopefully! But yeah, these changes need to be codified in law. This hand waving laws away is beyond absurd.
