Beatles channel on Sirius begins at 9:09 EST in a few minutes. Any bets?

    ... as to what song they first play?

    I am guessing "I want to hold your hand." (very apropos)

    Although I wish they would start with the Sgt Peppers reprise where Paul so cool says " One, Two, Three, Four..."

    The Beatles deserve all of the accolades ever heaped upon them. (imo)

    Well you were close.

    They started with brief quotes from the Beatles and quick snippets of songs but the first song they aired was "All you need is Love." I guess that makes some sense. Then right into "Sgt Peppers / With a little help from my friends." So close. : )

    Norwegian Wood is a fake wood that was used to make cheap furniture. Lennon knew people who were using it in their homes and thought it would make a good title.
    There are not many lyrics in this song, but they tell the story of a man who gets invited to a girl's house. When she won't let him into her bed, he sleeps in the tub. When she leaves the next morning, he sets the place on fire (as some act of revenge). It was one of the first songs Lennon wrote that told a complete story.

    So are they only going to play the Beatles?

    NM just looked it up, actually sounds pretty cool if they play interviews and unheard studio stuff.

    I don't know the answer to your question? I would guess early on it will be almost exclusively Beatles, but then I am sure they will eventually do the four Beatles solo album material a lot as well. I am sure they will do a lot of outtakes and various unreleased versions and interviews. They have to.

    I can tell you on Sirius like on the Sinatra channel, they do play other other artists of similar styles, which is welcome and a good idea.
