Last night I was watching the Lawrence O'Donnell show on fake news MSNBC and Lawrence played a part of President Reagan's last speech as President of the United States. It went something like this: "You can move to Mexico but you will never become a Mexican. You can move to Poland but you will never become Polish. You can move to Russia but you'll never become a Russian. The one thing our country has that no one else has is that you can move to America from any of those countries and you can become an American. There's no other country on earth that can say that. We are a nation made up of people from all over the world". That was till donald trump.

I have lost faith in the melting pot ideal. The fact is, when Obama was elected, a good part of the right wing went nuts - simply because he is black. And that anger led to trump and all that has followed. This is one of the big drivers of my position that the system has failed. There is a good part of this country that doesn't want to be a melting pot. A State or two might even opt to go all white if given the chance. There is an incredible irony in all of this. Even now we are likely seeing refugees due to climate change. The very people who deny the science are the same people crying about immigrants. Well, they ain't seen nothin yet! Wait until we have millions, rather than thousands, fleeing drought, famine, and disease, in a mass exodus.
I am surprised you didn't know of the violence, drug trafficking, and armed gangs wandering this "s-hole" countries threatening everyone and kidnapping twelve year olds for their Militias. One wonders, what is a legitimate need to some folks? It's hard to imagine.

Reagan was a globalist. He's responsible for one of the biggest amnesties of illegal aliens in US history. He's also responsible for deregulating the finance sector, which is a root cause of the 2008 crisis. I'll never say this enough, globalism can be a problem on the right as well.

He made a deal with lying, cheating Democrats --- amnesty for illegals on condition that Democrats would agree to seal the border so it never happens again.
