The large-scale US-NATO amassing of military force on Russia’s Western borders, NATO’s “Eastern Front,” is unprecedented and creates the impression of preparation for actual war.

    Very interesting political discussion: http://www.thenation.com/article/beyond-cold-war-to-mobilization-for-war-against-russia/

Is it they seriously? Or they just want more money for weapons market? Why they want to set fire in the middle of EU?

Here's my take on some of the stationary east wings of forces near Russia:

Many of those nations request troop exercises with NATO. It's not like the US just goes over there unannounced. Countries make HUGE money off US and foreign bases. On a side note, our presence in Japan has made them filthy rich

No. They are not to invade Russia. That is as ridiculous as American forces charging through the Fulda Gap in the Cold War which was already a built in hostile border. Nuclear war is too risky. The whole purpose is to serve as "tripwire forces", so Europe is attack, America will have no choice but to respond because their troops are already there. And if their forces are there, it is likely Europe will be attacked in the first place(risk of nuclear war).

Russian leadership knows for damn sure the Americans won't invade. They sure love to sell it to the damn public they might will. Also, the NATO leadership knows Russia won't invade beyond doing proxy wars and sending special forces, but sure like telling the public they might will. Russia has no desire to occupy the Baltics and fight a guerilla war against a people that hate them.

It's all about politics. Who can gain the most influence within these states.

I agree with you, they do make money, but there was always a fear of threatening Russia because they knew they were on the front lines. . Now it seems they have been convinced that Russia wants to restore the Soviet Union and if they are armed to the hilt, that threat won't exist.

Some nations in the Baltics have a legitimate concern since parts of their lands were always part of the Russian Federation. But mistreating the Russians living there to get them to leave, is only making them more paranoid in the long run, so it becomes a vicious cycle. The US is not helping in this. Instead of using its power to be a voice of reason and bringing people together it does the opposite. It uses its NGO's and propaganda to cause more friction within countries, that way it can keep them under control.

The US will not invade, but it instigates problems within and around the Russian Federation so as to break it up by causing internal and external friction. This would be similar to Russia sending agents into the inner cities and areas with large Hispanic populations so as to arouse the people against the government.

Washington also causes economic problems by alienating from Russia nations either through bullying or bribery that Russia is trying to establish trade with. ...and they are successful, even though the political and economic costs to those nations can be astronomical. For example Bulgaria lost out on billions because the US forced them to stop the South Stream gas pipeline. Also Russia was willing to pay twice as much as Azerbajian for some energy company, and yet they were forced by the EU not to sell it to them. Yet there was no way . they could sell it to Azerbajian because of their political connections to Turkey.

Anyway these are just a few examples among many. ..and the worse is that it just never stops.

One problem Russia has is that they take offense to the smallest things. Not everyone is out to get Russia. They need to calm down.

Oh get off that ignorant pile of horse plop! Do you even have one micro-micro-micro nano partial of an idea what it would take in troops and equipment to be ready for an offensive war with the evil empire? What NATO is doing is called a show of force, no more.

You really that obtuse or are you trying to lull us into sleeping by making believe that you are ignorant? I think that you are smarter than what your posts show.

Russia knows it cannot win a war with the United States. They can destroy the world with nuclear weapons. They can over run NATO in the beginning. Heck the first few months will be like Christmas for the Russians. But then reality would set in as their deficiency in force projection, professional soldiers, and lack of sophisticated logistical methods would begin to tell.

The first few months Russia would overrun most of Europe. From the Balkans to spain all would fall very quickly to Russia. UK would collapse the tunnel and be secure. It is at that point where Russia is in trouble. Their navy cannot hope to stand before the combined NATO fleets in any category. They would be in the position of having to defend the coasts all of Europe and their Pacific coast. Also the speed of their advance will hurt them in a surprising way. While the feeble armies of Europe will fall very quickly it will in no way deplete their manpower. In a normal war you batter a country bloody and then win after a somewhat extended conflict that depletes a nations fighting men. SInce this will not happen you will see the largest partisan uprising in the history of the world. One that can be armed and supply by the navies of NATO. Also as France falls they will launch their Nuclear weapons since at that point their country will cease to exist. True it would not be enough to destroy all of the world Russia would glow for a VERY long time with no people.

The only way Russia does not lose is with nuclear weapons. But when they launch those, mankind dies because America will launch. So they do not win either. I guess the question is why would Russia choose to have ALL of their people die by invading? Heck the ONLY Russians alive after France blows them up will be those in NATO countries.

It's part of the Wolfowitz policy to contain Russia, and the NGO's strive for regime changes when a government goes against Washington's interests. Russia's concerns are legitimate, but Washington has never been willing to take them into account. Right now the missiles can hit Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Can you imagine Washington's reaction if Russia had missiles in Cuba, Mexico and/or next to Alaska?

If a war was to break out, the US would not get involved. ..except maybe to supply the EU with some arms so they could self destruct. If you look at everything Washington has forced Europe to adhere to, none of it hurt the US economically, only the EU and Russia. The policy is for the US to gain economically from the next war in Europe the way it did in WWII.

Nuclear weapons and MAD-Mutually Assured Destruction is what has stopped the Russians from over running Europe.

Too bad that the US did not make 100 nuclear weapons in the mid 1940,s and destroy the USSR. Too bad that traitors and Russian spies were able to get nuclear technology. The world would have been a much much better place if we had destroyed the USSR.

That sounds about right to me. This crap will blow over eventually.

I think the US-China situation is slightly more interesting, but only slightly.

You mean in the Soviet era or modern times? Because I doubt very much that current Russian leadership is overly interested in conquering Europe militarily.

NATO preparations are not an offensive stance. They are the result of member nations requesting defensive walls to prevent Russia from making them Crimea/Ukraine.

They won't begin to resemble Ukraine until the US decides to help them overthrow their government and institute Russophobic nationalist policies.

It's a handful of brigades. In what way is a force like that "massive" or even remotely capable of launching an invasion of Russia?

Wrong again, the Baltic States have never been part of the Russian Federation - period. The Russian Federation didn't exist prior to December 25, 1991.

The only person who has mistreated Russians is Mother Putina. The only one who has illegally invaded, occupied and annexed the lands of is neighbors is Mother Putina. Just what NGOs does the US use to cause friction within countries, and where is this propaganda? You don't have it because you are once again making stuff up as is your custom.

West could sleepwalk into a Doomsday war with Russia – it’s time to wake up

    https://theconversation.com/west-co...day-war-with-russia-its-time-to-wake-up-59936

No one wants the direct confrontation but things could easily get out of control.

Anyhow if I were a Russian I wouldn’t worry about the U.S army. They don’t have the guts to attack any country capable of defending herself. Just look at history of their interventions. Always weak countries, always poorly equipped countries, always isolated countries, countries with internal frictions….etc...etc...However I don’t think the time is on Russia’s side. The USA and her vassal states will continue with sanctions against Russia. As long as it takes.

You’ve got to move from a re-active mode into a pro-active mode. Hit the USA where it hurts. Not their proxies. They’ve got plenty of proxies to spare. And will continue to use those imbeciles against Russia.

By the way, Washington operatives are working 24/7 to cause frictions between China and India. Russia has to make sure that India doesn’t switch the sides. Watch that space.

I'd guess that any ordinary Russian who reads all this 'beating of war drums' against their country will be asking themselves 'WTF have we done to deserve this unbridled hostility and hatred of the West?' I can hardly believe it myself - it's as if a form of insanity is sweeping the western world.

I don't think there is anything coming from the USA that Russkies should be afraid of. Perhaps 8in floppy disks? You can't make this stuff up.

US nuclear arsenal controlled by 1970s computers with 8in floppy disks

Government Accountability Office report details ‘museum-ready’ machines controlling nuclear force messaging system that are ‘obsolete’

    https://www.theguardian.com/technol...ontrolled-by-1970s-computers-8in-floppy-disks

...Shockingly, the US Government Accountability Office said: “Replacement parts for the system are difficult to find because they are now obsolete.”

The Pentagon said it was instigating a full replacement of the ancient machines and while the entire upgrade will take longer, the crucial floppy disks should be gone by the end of next year.

Given that magnetic media has a finite shelf life, and that disks and the drives needed to read and write to them are older than some of the operators of the machinery, the floppy revelation makes you wonder whether the US could even launch a nuclear attack if required. An “error, data corrupted” message could be literally life or death.

[IMG] I expect you'll have seen mine on the subject, and how I said that if the shoe were on the other foot how they'd all have had a good laugh at the Russians. I can't help noticing that not so much as a peep has been heard from AA the citizen et al since the 'news' was made public. Not so much as a peep!!

Really....? So you don't understand why the Western world would be upset when a European country (i.e. Russia) does the the same things and even using the same justifications as Adolph Hitler did? Perhaps you don't remember or were not taught about the bloodiest war in the history of mankind, the war which killed millions of people. Two, Mother Russia is a third rate military power. It is out number, it is outgunned.

Well, here is the thing, land based nuclear missiles are largely irrelevant so there is no need to upgrade them. They are fixed and known positions and vulnerable to first strikes. The US has debated eliminating all of them. So given their vulnerability and obsolesce, why upgrade them. Upgrading the computers which fire the nuclear missiles really doesn't buy you anything. In fact there is a certain security in using the older technology. It makes them much less vulnerable to cyber attacks.

Unlike Mother Russia, American nuclear deterrence rests mostly with the US Navy. Mother Russia has no defense against the American Navy. The US Navy is immune from a Russian first strike. Land based ballistic missiles are virtually obsolete.

Why would America hit Moscow or Saint Petersburg with missiles?
