Too nuanced. IT'S IN THE FRAKKING OP, BUT IT'S SOMEHOW BIDEN'S FAULT. I think that the BDS is metastasizing. Or is it ossifying? 1584414801.3623-smiley.gif

Its really hard to survive in politics being completely open and honest unfortunately. There is always going to be a chess game in politics where both sides say certain things to try to win.

Then Canada should invest in a refinery or two.

Well you seem willing to do without honesty in politics, but what about good policy? What exactly are you getting that's worth both lies and bad policy?

When gasoline tops $5/gallon the DP has fallen and can't get up.

Go back and read the first post by me that you disingenuously quoted with a non sequitur re-framing and remind yourself why you are still in the hole you dug. Thanks.

The RP/DP is rather like a Siamese twin whose primary function is to trickle down on people who vote for it.

“In terms of an analogy to economic markets, the political market for parties has nearly always been an oligopoly. In recent decades, that oligopoly has transformed into a cartel, in which the parties share rather than compete over resources, and effectively conspire to protect their collective interests. The capacity of their leaders to maintain this cartel of parties depends, however, on their ability to control their own parties, giving rise to a new form of party organization, the cartel party. As with all ideal types, there are never any fully fledged cartel parties, just as there were never any fully fledged mass parties or catch-all parties, but the realities of modern politics are better understood as approaches to the cartel party ideal type than as perversions of the catch-all party.”

You have a good point there. People don't like paying $5 for gas and the democrats are in serious trouble this November.

Yes both sides lie and play games a lot. Thats pretty obvious. Politics is about picking the least of evils and its hard to get up the motivation to vote.

Historically the RP has always been The Stupid Party, but the DP has been training hard and is now a serious contender.

I personally support high gas prices because climate change is a big problem. But I understand that in the short term this will hurt many working class families and is a big problem politically.

Sacrificing the US economy by creating gas shortages is counter productive.
More nuclear power plants in China would impact the problem of carbon pollution.

Expensive gas wouldn't sacrifice the US economy. In fact Europeans have been living with very expensive gas for decades. What they do is more biking, public transit, and EVs. Nuclear plants along with wind and solar are definitely part of the solution as well.

"Whenever government engineers an oil shortage the price of oil will rise." Ddy

I see the hole, and I see you digging. Instead of shoveling try substantive rebuttal. ;-)

High gas prices are punitive tax on the American people, and especially on the working class. It is also very stupid politics for the DP.

So far nuclear power is the only viable alternative to carbon energy production.
The wind, solar, oil, gas and coal lobbies clearly have more political clout.
So the people, as usual, will pay through the nose for it.

Wind and solar is 20% of our energy production and are viable as well. And if we are using gas cars it doesn't matter how much nuclear power you have, the cars are still running gas. One thing I disagree with is I'd rather do a gas tax than limiting gas production. With a gas tax we can actually get some revenue. A gas tax will hit lower income people harder but we can make up for this by lowering sales and property taxes.
