Biden Administration Considers Banning Gas Stoves over Health Concerns (msn.com)
Uh, oh! The Biden administration is going to ban gas stoves.

I use a gas stove. Therefore, I will lose the ability to cook if these rules go through.

A lot of people have gas service to their homes and businesses. It's just standard utilities in my area.

The other option would be electric, but since I and others like me have gas service already hooked up, it would take a kitchen remodel to ensure the appliances are set up and up to code. Perhaps even a whole remodeling of the house and its wiring.

Of course, with the economy the way it is, the administration will definitely jump at the opportunity to drain our bank accounts to fight inflation because they feel we Americans have too much money.

Because that is totally how it would work. They would ban gas stoves effective immediately, and folks would totally starve.

Don't electric stoves require a special high-capacity outlet be installed for its use?

In another thread weren’t you bitching about authoritarianism?

Correction: make that two other threads just today.

No, your Dear Leader will force Americans to spend money on new appliances, electrician services, etc. to appease the Climate Cult, and Brandonistas will run to his defense with their little red herrings...

While I think it's unnecessary and isn't going to solve anything, most likely the ban would be on the sale of new gas stoves. I don't think there's any validity to the fear that you'll have to remodel your kitchen and get rid of your gas stove after the law passes. Future sale and installation in new homes will be banned.

All that said, there are better ways to fight climate change and protect the environment without hassling people for small gains. The increased load on the electric grid combined with the fact that you're going to use a fossil fuel to generate the electric to power an electric stove means you're not really gaining ground there. And natural gas is a pretty efficient fuel source, you're not making a dent in greenhouse gases by averting it's use on a smaller scale like kitchen stoves. Fight the dirtier fuels first, if you must.

When I lived in California they had buses powered by natural gas and they were very proud to have buses powered by natural gas. Same thing in NYC.

Ahh, the world's gone nuts. Like electric stoves are going to be so much cheaper for everyone, especially in the blue state CA. where they rip us off left and right. Just what we need, to chase more taxpayers out of this state.

The best part of this story is Cory Spartacus Booker saying the stoves are racist.

    Silly.

The byproduct of natural gas burning, carbon monoxide, is in such low concentrations neither the Building Code nor ASHRAE require exhaust systems.

There is a reason for that.

The legal authority for such a ban is questionable in general and as a non-lawyer opinion, there is zero authority to ban any gas stove made before 2008. This idea of creating de facto laws by rule interpretation from unelected bureaucrats IMHO represents a clear attack on the US Constitution. Not that many people seem to care. A good example of this sort of thing was the Trump administration Executive Branch bump stock ban based on a rule interpretation just overturned by a US Appeals Court.

ROFLMAO... because coal fired electricity is better for the environment than natural gas.

Most stove/oven combos require a 30amp, 220volt dedicated feed. Most are wired directly in, some may have a plug and an outlet. It isn't really complicated unless your panel box is full. In that case, usually a subpanel may be installed to feed the power to it.

I don't think the concern is environmental, but the dangerous gases that are produced when LP gas is burned.
Kind of like running an LP gas electric generator inside a home.
To me, it actually makes a lot of sense, but maybe a good ventilation system would suffice. Unfortunately, a lot of stove vents don't vent to the outside of the house, just blow the air up above the stove.
I like cooking with gas better, but it is more dangerous for several reasons, only one being the gases being emitted.

I sincerely hope that's not the reason they are pushing for this, because it's silly and pedantic. Maybe someday down the road we'll be in such a position where the miniscule amount of byproduct given off from a gas stove is a concern ahead of the much larger concerns we currently face.

I don't agree with this one bit.
I can see apartments personally banning them for insurance reasons, but it's not the federal governments job.

THE CREEPY CULT SURROUNDING THE GAS STOVE PANIC GETS EXPOSED:

'Good luck finding much support for Scott Wiener and Max Kennedy’s claims that gas stoves are “toxic” and cause asthma. Yes, a search will produce a random study or two, but there’s been no landmark research regarding gas stoves proving they are a major health risk, much less is there anything that begins to justify federal government intervention.'

    It's a cult

'What makes this even dumber is that all the Democrats currently pushing for a ban on gas stoves apparently have them. If they are so dangerous, why didn’t Elizabeth Warren, Jill Biden, Kamala Harris, and others get rid of their gas stoves years ago? Could it be because this entire discussion is completely manufactured?'

    Yes, it's contrived.

'Fortunately, for now, it appears to be a ban too far, even for this White House': Consumer Safety Commission Walks Back Gas-Stove Threat amid Backlash.

    Good!

The faux outrage by the right is reaching Benny Hill level ridiculousness

Did any of you read the article posted.......

    1. Its written by the National Review..........c'mon....seriously
    2. "federal agency may look to ban gas stoves over concern about the release of pollutants".....yes, that is a power the agency has......but has anyone from said agency even uttered those words ?
    2. "The commission could set standards"....yes, that is a power the agency has.....but that hasn't even been uttered a as a possibility by that agency. The agency also COULD shut down many things....which fake reason will the right come up with next to rile the base

The made-up reasons for outrage on the right is just ridiculous !!!!
