Joe Biden's presidential campaign is accusing President Trump's campaign of poaching online donors. In a fundraising email sent to supporters Thursday, the Biden campaign pointed out that if someone types "donate Joe Biden" into a Google search, the first link to appear is one that directs them to donate to Donald J. Trump for President.

"Trump's campaign is paying money to run ads online so that their donation link is the first thing you see when you search 'donate Joe Biden,'" the email read. "But, listen, here's the thing: We can't stop them because we're out of money to run online ads for the rest of the month."

So I presume we won't hear anymore complaints about Google searches. BTW, it isn't the search results, it is the ad they purchased.

You are confusing two entirely separate issues. Google selling ads is one thing. Google altering their algorithms to manipulate traffic in favor of the left is something else entirely.

 

From the guy who doesn't know what state he's in. The campaign trail must be tough on ole Joe, oh wait! We aren't even past the primaries.

 

Trump campaign buys google ads using AdSense. Their website is professionally best optimized (SEO) search engine optimization by writing quality ad content that targets keywords using various techniques such as backlinks, meta descriptions, social media sharing, etc. They also obviously monitor their ads and bid up certain keywords to make sure their ad always comes up on the first page of every search. Paid Google ads will always be listed before blogs and other websites such as Biden's but getting their ad to always appear first takes some skill.
If you type donate joe Biden and you get get a trump ad, it is because he paid to have it appear that way. The keyword donate, Joe Biden or any combination could trigger Trump's ad to appear there. The same could be done to target Bernie Sanders or any other candidate but for now it looks like Trump is targeting Biden.

 

Exactly, Google searches have discriminate variables that determine the search results. There is no guarantee that searches will be the same, but there are search filters if one wants to implement to make their searches more deterministic.

 

What proof do you have that Google is engaged in such, have you ever tried to use the search filters.

Type the phrase - donate Joe Biden exactly as shown in the address bar of your browser. It worked for me about 20 minutes ago. It might not work if they fix it but tomorrow it could be back to what it was. It's a cat and mouse game to keep ads on top.
