    It's the nice thing about living out in a rural area- no need for cops at all. It is safe. If anything would happen that requires a need for protection, we do it ourselves.

    Same here. Only have 3 neighbors on our street. One is very elderly. The other two and I watch out for each other.

    We have an elderly couple that live across the street. He's 82, and still mows his own yard. But my neighbors and I help him with things around the house when he can't as his wife has health issues.

    Rural crime has skyrocketed in the past 12 years along with the opioid epidemic in states like Iowa, Kentucky, W.Virginia, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri and many other states while urban crime has decreased.

    I hear Tennessee is a good place to buy land. I could be wrong but I think acreage isn't taxed. My friend bought a small house with 18 acres there for CHEAP. I visited last may.
