I grew up with God and science. One doesn't cancel out the other.

Nye isn't even a scientist, he's a Mechanical Engineer.

He's become irrelevant since his goofy kid's show was canceled, and misses the attention.

I never understood why some people make it such a mission to downplay something they claim they don't believe in.

I believe in both. And I don't believe that one precludes a belief in the other. I don't remember in all my years in church where any minister preached that the world began when Christ was born. I always understood that it had been around LONG before God sent his only son to mingle with humans.

One thing scientist can do is tell us the mechanics of how this planet began. I pick up fossils on my property all the time that have been here for most likely hundreds of thousands of years. IMHO, most people do not believe that humans were created out of mere happenstance. Which brings us back to...."who started it all?" And why?

What church preaches that Jesus was the first man or that he was created in the beginning? You may assume the fossil was formed last week if you wish, but that does not make it true, but that is all it is is an assumption. That is all the evolution scientists have are assumptions about the billions of fossils they have unearthed. All they can know for certain is the animal was alive, died and was rapidly buried.

Context matters, dude. another poster said that evolution is not a belief, it's "accepted science". I pointed out that that's a distinction without a difference - evolution is still a belief, despite the connotations you or others may want to add to it.

Evolution is a fact.........the Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection explains how it happens. No idiot can simply cut and paste that into not being true.

Facts and observations take precedence over a story told to teach about God (not science and history) to barely post-nomadic people. The Book of Genesis is not literally true. I believe death in the Bible refers to the soul, not the body.

I believe that God created the universe and it's laws. Life is something that occurred as the result of that. Of course, God created life, but the way He did it looks the same as the way science says it happened.
