Black, black, black... Come on, where are the leftists to pronounce Black Friday racist? If it was White Friday, I'm pretty sure some would have screamed over "promoting white culture". Got any good deals on Black Friday? Did you shop online or waited in lines?
Btw, why is it called Black Friday? Is it because people are waiting in lines before dawn or because it ruins Thanksgiving (both for employees who have to prepare the good for Friday and the people who would go early to bed in order to get at Walmart at 4 a.m.)?
Two thoughts on that. 1) It stems from the history of calling bad days "Black" combined with the legend that cops in the 60s started calling the day Black Friday because of how bad traffic and shoplifting was on that day. 2) Retails go "in the Black" due to all the sales. My theory.. We call it Black Friday because RACIST STRAIGHT RACISM WHITE RACIST MALE RACISM IS SO RACIST WAHHHHH RACISM~!!@!@#!!
Spent $300 on two tires yesterday, black friday over. The tires are black, is that racist ? Had I purchased white wall tires, is that racist ? This is quite a conundrum.
Black Friday is not racist at all. It is modeled in the reality of life. Here it comes . . . Like the Sky, the higher you go up, the Blacker it (sky) becomes. I am not going to say much more until a response to this specific post comes.
Halloween originate from the Celts...it's the Irish's fault... the Yanks just commercialised it....I curse all those lollies every damn year.... kids come home with a bucket full... I toss it out a little at a time every day after Halloween
Whatever, I like holloween and have no issue with Black Friday. You can have black Sunday, black Monday etc... I’m ready for white Tuesday, red Wednesday, brown Thursday, yellow Saturday, what color do we associate with Arabs?
If ever I saw an oblique reference in a narrative that just has to be it; can you tell me how you arrived there? Oh and I have no problem with holloween, it's halloween that I have a problem with.
I hope I never grow out of the desire to occasionally dress up and get hammered... 'all work and no play' and all that
Not true. It is called Black Friday because traditionally it is the start of the XMas season and the purchases made that day cover the receipts or debts of retailers. It is called, "Being in the Black" or economically stable or solvent:
And here, I thought this was some sort of forum tradition on the Friday after Thanksgiving. I mean, with the title and all. What a disappointment.
I'm not being confrontational here - I'm just curious when it comes to adult behaviour - but do you mean that you actually wake up one morning and think 'I'm going to dress up and get hammered tonight'? But I do take your point about 'all work and no play'; I'm the odd one out here because I don't need the 'play' bit. It actually worries me when I see adults engaging in children's stuff. It'd be a boring ol' world if we were all the same though?
I havnt dressed up or got drunk for halloween in years. But thats just due to always working on halloween in recent years. I still wanna dress up and go get drunk with lotsa other folks dressed up and getting drunk. I think it has to do with my rejection of the 'dressing up NICE' scene. I dont get any kicks from dressing up nice and rubbing elbows with yuppies... If Im gonna 'dress up', its gotta be outlandish, and dressing outlandish by yourself is just a good way to be ostrasized. So halloween is just kinda an excuse, I guess.
