Since starting to watch these again (I finished series 1 last night) I've suddenly become obsessed with stenography to the point that I'm considering buying a used machine to see if I can crack it. But from what I've seen in early learning vids on youtube, I just cannot get my head around the fact that the court reporter doesn't actually spell the words (which would be impossible of course, and the steno machine only has about half the keys of a querty keyboard anyway), but types phonetically, in other words the locution is 'typed' by how it sounds. :eyepopping: Any comments, apart from 'Don't waste your money.'?

I was hoping there would be someone who knows something about it, or who knows someone else with insight based on experience. Never mind, I'll indulge my other obsession . . . I'll check out Ebay for a balalaika and learn to play it.
