Boston Marathon investigators find woman’s DNA on bomb fragment

Investigators have found traces of female DNA on a fragment from one of the bombs that exploded at the Boston Marathon earlier this month, U.S. officials said late Monday.
While it is still unclear who the DNA matches to, the find indicates a female accomplice may have helped the two brothers suspected in the bombings, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, according to officials briefed on the probe speaking to U.S. press.
Investigators will now compare the DNA of Katherine Russell, the widow of accused bomber Tamerlan, against the DNA found on the bomb remnant to determine if she ever came in contact with the device, U.S.-based CBS news reported on Tuesday.
Russell is not a suspect in the bombings.
“FBI agents met with Russell at her parents' Rhode Island home Monday to collect a DNA sample,” the CBS report stated.
Tamerlan died after a shootout with police four days after the April 15 bombings.

I don't get how running away for a massive explosion is in any way suspicious behaviour.

 

Especially during a marathon.

 

Of course you fail to mention that the DNA may have come from any number of sources. How many people were there around when the bombs exploded? Could the fragment have picked up someone's hair as it flew through the air? Of course it could.

 

Of course it could... Yet it COULD HAVE NOT !!

 

And in your mind the likelihood is that it is related to someone who was close to the bomber. We get it.

 

The FBI will find the collaborators. Let's wait patiently..

Have either of the Tsarnaev brothers DNA been found on the bomb? I can find nothing of the sort being reported. Which is interesting as you would think there would be significant DNA by both of the main suspects, no? Why else would they then harass Tamerlan's widow?


Do you really care what actually happened, or does the official story sufficiently ask all of your questions?

I think the point is, if the DNA turns out to be a person linked to the bombers, but not at the marathon, then it indicates some contact with the bomb prior to the marathon by that person.
If it turns out to be that of a person injured in the attack, then it's just that, but you can't know which it is until you do the test.

 

It is not impossible that it is linked to someone who had contact with the bomb before it went off and that that person is not the brothers or anyone who has any contact with them. That is also a possibility but the most likely reality is that it came from someone after the bomb went off.

 

Correction: Muslims were 'suspected' of placing the bombs. Innocent until proven guilty, habeus corpus and all that old fashioned stuff.

The suspects were living in a crowded apartment and Katherine Russell's DNA could be found in the fragment but it's doubtful if she played a direct role in assembling the bombs. There are alternative explanations and she could have touched some bomb components while cleaning her husband's room without knowing what he was up to.
