Isn't it amazing that the poor who have no money at all want taxes raised on other people so they can get their welfare and never work a day in their life.

This is said from the context of life under a government that is dedicated to the success of the largest corporations, but not only that. Also, it is said by people who have never known anything else. And therefore they have no experience of any other kind of government, and cannot even imagine any other kind of government. Hence "this is what government does" is the belief.

The first step in overcoming such limited perspective is in realizing clearly that the existing government is, indeed, dedicated to the thriving, and even the success of the largest corporations. From that, it is eventually possible to see how the government does this and how it could otherwise be.

Perhaps the poor should buy stock instead of cigarettes and beer

The market keeps setting new records and the economy is going gang busters.

    Explain that?

"The markets"? Are you referring to the stock market or the futures market or the grocery market?
What is your evidence that "the economy is going gang busters"?

You are proving, like your name sake, to contribute nothing of importance or value. You are very close to being found on my "ignore" list.

Last time I came by your kids were in community college, you work as a line worker, your SUVs are 11 and 14 years old, the third SUV hasn't run in 2 years, your boat is a rowboat, and your home is in a trailer park.

Notice the 3 richest people in the USA - Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, and Warren Buffett - are all Democrats and support the "progressives".

More proof that Democrats talk but don't walk the walk. Those 3 could just give away half their billions and would be just fine, but they don't, because they are hypocrites (another word for "progressives").

If you have evidence of fraud or theft then come out with it, otherwise I don't see your point.

That's because, throughout history, there really hasn't been any other kind of government, except perhaps on a very small and localized scale. Virtually all central governments throughout history were characterized by their brutality, corruption, and arrogance. Why is there any reason to believe the US government would or could be any different?

FREEDOM...sounds good but it's just another unattainable ideal. Especially when one picks and choses where to strive for it.

I find it interesting that freedom is so important to you, yet you belong to a union. That must be a tough one to reconcile since unions unions are the epitome of control and diminished freedom. That goes for it's members and even more for non members. Non members can't do the simplest tasks if it is in any way shape or form a union task. Having worked in union environments I've seen plenty. Work held up for nearly a day because of a union members tool bag blocking the way. No union members from that particular union were available to move it. When a non member finally did move it, he got "written up". That was just one incident of many. Non organized people speaking up about something so egregiously out of balance as the wealth I'm balance threatens freedom far less.

On the idea that "the consumer" made Gates wealthy and "the consumer" is disingenuous. That the same exaggeration as "the American people". I agree that "some consumers" made Gates wealthy and "some consumers" are disingenuous. Some realized after the fact that something is wrong. Some realized that the elected officials played a self serving part in his amassing a ridiculously large amount of wealth. And they should speak up. The wealthy, the corporations and the government are nearly the same entity. A government and its subsidiaries should fear its people.

Nonsense. It's clear you've got your head in the sand.

How does having wealth give you power over me specifically?

    1. You have more to donate and thus more say in our policy making process, which absolutely effects me, thus having power over me.

    2. You have more power in the employer/employee relationship, which enables you to stifle wages, as the one with more power in the relationship, which absolutely is "power" over me.

    3. You have more say in our elections, since you donate more to specific candidates, which in the end results in more face time and recognition, increasing the chances of a backed candidate being elected - which again, is power over me.

    4. You own more land, and thus more property usually means rental locations, which also gives you disproportionate power in the housing realm.

    5. Since you have more wealth, if I ever were to challenge you in court, I have far less ability to win a lawsuit based strictly on the fact that I have less money to throw into the black hole that is our justice system.

If you can't see how having more wealth equals more power, then perhaps you need to open your mind a little bit.
