It's better than a bunch of private dens of vipers managing our economy from Wallstreet where they're more interested in lining their own pockets than actually having the nation's best interests at heart. If that means I am an authoritarian I don't really care.

 

1997. I made $8,500 in 1997. Then, I got a second job, a third, and started school. I stayed out late, partied constant and had the time of my life while working 2-3 jobs and paying for school. I got a crappy entry level job in 01 and bought a foreclosed house. Then, I picked up a bartending job while working my entry level peon job and bought another foreclosed house. 17 years later, I still work two jobs, I manage the finance dept for a giant auto mfg company and COO of my own company (my wife is ceo). Here's the point. I remember the times when I was broke as some of the happiest times of my life. When we wanted to eat out, we did, when we wanted to have a lazy Saturday, we did. Not gonna lie, our vacations are way better now, but that is obviously a luxury.

 

Management is a lot more than that. There's things like logistics and calculations besides motivational speaking.

It's however a poor analogy comparing 1997 to 2018 all the same.

Many years ago Congress passed a law which allows members of Congress to write bad checks with no legal consequences.

So apparently you think a bunch of people who cannot balance a check book are capable of managing a national economy.

 

I didn't say anything about a senate or congress, not sure why you're bringing that up.

 

Because changing the name or title means nothing.

There is no one qualified or competent enough to run or plan a national economy for a nation of 300 million.

Or to run health care or education for a nation that size.

Obviously a central bank is full of bankers, economists, business investors, trade analysts, and so on. Why wouldn't it work under government control?
