If the industry doesn't matter as you allege, then why is the EU refusing to negotiate for yearly quotas? That argument is a two way street.

Both sides are still playing hardball.
    The clock is ticking though.
All our existing trade deals die at midnight New Years eve.
Come Christmas when they still haven't got a deal the excrement will be impacting the extractor.

A hard brexit has been inevitable from the beginning hasn't it? Make an example out of England so nobody dare try leaving the union again.

According to Boris and his cronies a trade deal is the easiest thing in the world and a new and better deal can be negotiated on day one.
4 years later we still don't have one.
It's like Trump and his replacement for Obama care.
Much easier to promise than it is to achieve.

Mr. Johnson, or at least the conservatives, will still be in charge of the UK well after Mr. Trump is history. Guess its time for parliament to focus on its side deal with Ireland and setting up tariffs for continental goods rather than waste more time given the EU's refusal to let England set those unimportant fishing quotas in its waters.

    Focus would be good.
Currently BoJo is fighting his backbenchers over the lockdown which started today.
Labour should be holding his feet over the fire but they're too busy trying to score political points over the government's Covid strategy.
At this rate there's going to be an extension to the transition period which Boris can blame on the virus.

It was my understanding that the date for any extension has already gone by based on something mentioned in passing in some news report or the other.

England's dealine is December 31st come hell or high water. The EU keeps moving its dropdead date for negotiations to end and then trying to blame BJ's troubles at home for it. It was October 31, but alas you are correct, the EU moved it to mid November I see. Maybe Brussels can whip France into line before it is too late, but I doubt it.

The UK is screwed, The Pig got fired, which means a very tough trade deal negotiation and no deal if the Good Friday agreement gets damaged by the UK.
The UK's position with the EU just got even weaker.

    Have fun.

oh for fuk sakes no it isn't....stop being so dramatic....jeez anything happens in the world and all of sudden its an apocalyptic event from which there is no return and humanity as we know it will cease to exist.
Economies adapt...economies are dynamic...markets are dynamic....markets are flexible and adaptable.....the events that everyone is alluding to are going to be played out over years. If your plug is blocked do you hurtle round the bathroom in a frenzy of angst proclaiming doom and despondency!! Are you prone to girly fits of hysteria....probably not....so get a grip and think it through....over a medium period of 10 to 15 years not just for a day or a week.

Over a medium period of 10-15 years the UK will ask to rejoin the EU again, with a economy down the drain.
Loosing The Pig is a huge blow to the UK negotiating position, with the EU and the US.

....are you assuming the EU will still exist in its current format or do you know that for a fact...?

Don't see any reason why the EU should not exist in 10-15 years.
    Do you ?

If bleach is so good at killing the coronavirus how come Americans aren't immune from all the chicken they eat?
