Seems things keep getting "blown up" in Muscovia....first the Siberia blast now this.

Maybe they'll blame this on the US?

A"brief radiation spike"??.....Chernobyl was just a dumpster fire back in 86.....according to the vatnik consortium here.

Hey Boychiko!! You need to use the correct spelling which is Chornobyl. So did the rocket have a satellite payLoad with an atomic powered energy source??

As far as I am concerned they can blown up every square inch or centimeter of Russiastan or even Siberia. The more Boom Boomsthe merrier.

I’m curious as to where the radiation came from. Rocket engines don’t have anything radioactive in them.

The article said they were testing a new liquid fueled jet engine. Uh, yeah, sure. (And if you don't believe them, just ask them. lol)

It's easy to get paranoid about radiation because you can't see it. In reality they got to 2mSv/hr for 30 mins. On a flight from LA to Sydney you will get 3mSv/hr for 15 hours.

Lots of science denialism around radiation and nuclear technology.

My mom's home village was 80 to 100 hm down wind from Chornobyl. My last relative a grand uncle moved back there a few years ago where he divided to die at 92 or 93. My cousins left for good mostbrelocated to other parts of Ukieland and the Baltics but one stupid broad cousin moved to Russia with her Moskainyk husband. Good riddance to that idiot cousin. I have severed contact with traitors family or not.

No one will know for years, if even then. Russia is not exactly honest and forthcoming.
We still have no idea what this was:

With Russians rushing to buy iodine it is believed that the explosion released way more radiation and was deliberately downplayed by the Putin administration.

If I remember correctly from long ago reading, Russians have been testing an anti satellite weapon that uses a small nuke.

Russia now admitting what even it could no longer deny - there was radiation involved in the rocket explosion.

So, after days of lying & obfuscating a bit of truth leaks out.....after everyone else worked it out. I notice even the usual suspects haven't jumped in to spout the party line. A sure sign they know the lies are harder to defend than usual.

Perhaps this was a test for Putin's nuclear powered cruise missile. Guess they should be pleased they didn't sink a submarine while they were at it.

The US, Russia, and China have used nuclear power systems that were flown to space, or launched in an attempt to reach space. This seems like the latter. No big deal (other than the deaths), if that's all it was.

It's pretty scary how they seem not to care about their own by irradiation from accidents. How much less would they care about everyone else?

In Russia people aren’t valued that much. For all who die women will birth more. They even have a joke about it.

Still? I remember hearing of this during the USSR days. I never put much stock in it. I imagined some would do that, but not the vast majority.

My guess is it requires less total mass of fuel since much of the energy will come from the reactor.

The reactor powers an electric turbofan engine. It's an airborne version of their 'Status 6' submersible.
