Just doing away with the stupid ass visa lottery, which gives out 50,000 green cards each year to people for absolutely no reason, is a step in the right direction......

Oh Silly Mello. You can't expect the President to support a change in the law that would actually damage his own business.

I will await more information from people who are smarter on this topic than I, but off the top of my head, it is bad for the following reason:

It would be devastating to large sectors of the job market because low skilled immigration workers almost completely fill certain sectors and their influence, in turn, results in more jobs overall.

I think it's a good idea. Immigration should be more about what can a prospective immigrant do for the Nation, rather than what can the Nation do for them IMO. I would think any Nation would want to be operating this way.

We shouldn't be the recepticle for the Worlds unskilled masses.

It is noted that on an interview, Trump admitted to hiring migrant workers for this resorts because, according to him, it was difficult to fill the positions with American workers. What are the chances these "migrant" workers at his resorts speak English? What a hypocrite.

There is a poem attached to the Statute of Liberty which would beg to differ.

LOL...which none of these invaders will ever get within a mile of.
You cant read it from the Texas border when you come skittering across in the dead of night.

And even if they did, this is a feel good poem which would be a disaster for any nation to actually put into practice. No nation could succeed taking in nothing but the worlds unskilled , downtrodden masses...
    Perhaps that's the goal?

The new colossus is not law. It is not in the constitution.

it's a poem slapped on the statue liberty 100 years ago.

it means nothing, like your point.

No, this plan does not address the types of migrants used to fill his businesses.

Any job that an uneducated, low-skilled "migrant" could do — our highly-educated-yet-unemployed millennial Hillary voter could do. They'll go further in life learning how to become carpenters than working as baristas, anyway.

Let's solve youth unemployment by making them work the jobs that "migrants" are doing.

It's merely planning for the future. With automation taking over we don't need more unskilled illiterate immigrants.

But, again, we do not need more of them. We can't even begin to know how many of their jobs will be automated in just one generation.

    1. You missed the point.
    2. Robots can't change bed sheets or clean toilets.
    3. Automation....ok, then why are RWers complaining about manufacturing jobs where predominantly, automation have been replacing humans.
    4. Illiterate immigrants? LOL....I guess you must have missed all those Indians and Chinese who have been replacing Americans in the tech sector and the service sector. You are ok with that then, eh?

LOL...you asked for a story, I gave it to you. Chances are there are MANY more such subcontractors at ALL his current project. What about him hiring migrant workers at his resorts instead of Americans?

    1. no i didn't.

    2. they can't.....yet.

    3. RWers complain that those jobs are shipped out of the country, which is a problem that can be solved. Automation is simply inexorable.

    4. those immigrants are not unskilled. lol.

It is relevant to the question that you literally just asked.
