British Academics Produce Research Indicating That Fetuses May Feel Pain After 13 Weeks

“British scientists have discovered that fetuses may be able to feel pain after 13 weeks in the womb, making the abortion process seem even more gruesome.

Before this study, it was generally accepted that fetuses started feeling pain after 24 weeks in the womb. The findings of the scientists cast serious doubt on the conventional wisdom of the medical industry. The scientists believe that women should be notified that fetuses can feel pain before abortions are performed.

I believe that Science is advancing and research keeps pushing viability, pain threshold info, and heartbeat detection earlier than originally thought in pregnancy. What was understood in late 1972 when Roe vs Wade was decided then announced in Jan. 1973 was primitive compared to now so at least some of Roe vs Wade should be reconsidered regarding the trimesters as well as heartbeats being life and the pain threshold issue and the inhumane nature of inflicting it on an innocent.

 

If they feel pain at 13 weeks, I imagine they really feel pain at full term.

 

Will the pro abortion crowd care if an abortion causes excruciating pain for the innocent baby victim of that barbaric procedure?

 

No. They don't care. A fetus (even if healthy at 36 weeks) is no different than an infected appendix.

 

Laws must be continually updated as our knowledge on the subject expands.
We need reforms in both our abortion laws as well as sexual education and prevention.

 

There is no reason for it to ever get this far.
Make up your mind if you wanna keep it or not and if not, abort as soon as possible (I think the minimum is 2 weeks)
Unfortunately lots of liberal women like to abort late so they can still get some time off work for maternity leave and also use abortions as their casual method of birth control.

First it isn’t a baby till it leaves the womb. And yes if anyone ever has evidence that the fetus experiences pain we will care. So far though there is zero actual evidence. And there is a difference between feeling a stimulus and feeling pain.

It's interesting that neither Big League Politics nor the Daily Mail (where they copy-pasted most their article from) chose to link the actual paper. Can't have readers doing their own research and thinking for themselves after all.

On that basis, I feel no reason to comment on the actual topic. The abstract and conclusion of the paper seem perfectly reasonable and can speak for themselves. I wonder how many people will bother reading it though.

If you have the most simplest of a brain you can feel pain. Just as simple brained animals will squeal when hurt. But those for abortion don't care who they hurt or kill as long as it ain't them. Imagine killing your spouse and when asked why you did it you reply, "it's my body and I can do what I want".

 

Read the article - it is all speculation, far from any slight consensus. 20 to 24 weeks is still the accepted threshold.

 

Accepted by who? The pro abortion lobby doesn’t want to accept that human babies can feel pain when they are being killed and their limbs are torn asunder any earlier than the old data for fear of further limits being placed on their ability to play god with the lives of pre born human beings.

 

By the AMA and the majority of researchers in the field. And realistically, you are talking about less than 5% of all abortions occurring after 12 weeks and a majority of those being for medical reasons.
