    The hell? lol
They need a visa now, and they are just temporary!
And I don't need to quote or cite anything about that.
You need to educate yourself if you want to be part of this education.

UK truck drivers drive on the wrong side of the street and therefore have no impact on EU trucking at all.

Hello rapid inflation. And all it does is creating a crater somewhere else. You also think people would quit their regular jobs and do temporary jobs on the farm? lol

What is it about an old license that lets you operate an LKW?

I think it's got squat to do with Brexit and more to do with paying people to sit on their asses.....like we do here.

They should seize this opportunity and purge their free **** ('entitlement') rolls.

When people get hungry, they will work. They'll mow grass, pick crops. They'll do EXACTLY what people did before socialist programs paid them to sit on their asses.

Germans who live in the UK and possess such an old licence have all been written to by the British Government and asked for their help. - It was in the news.

Interesting, but I'm more curious about the whole "old license" thing. I guess you mean licenses from pre-Brexit?

It's known that the jobs who are vacant by the 10,000's used to be filled by foreign EU members, who are no longer welcome due to Brexit.... so of course it has to do with Brexit. I'm not so much interested in your idea's of making people move across the country in search of a low to no skilled job with low wages.

Neat. I was not aware of that.

What do you think of this?:

The Treasury has denied that the shortage of HGV drivers in the UK is related to Brexit. Chief secretary to the Treasury, Simon Clarke, told the BBC’s Today programme yesterday. “The difficulties we are facing are not unique to this country. The idea that this is somehow just a British problem is fundamentally wrong. There’s a shortage of 400,000 HGV drivers across Europe,” he said.

“The idea that this is about Brexit is to try and take us back into what is really, I’m afraid, quite a negative conversation around opportunities forgone when, if you look at the situation in Germany, if you look at the situation in Poland, if you look at the situation in France, they share these problems too.”

However, the German government is understood to have not yet written to British people living there, asking them to consider driving an HGV when they have never done so before.

Are you aware of a shortage of drivers in Germany or elsewhere in mainland Europe?

I am not aware of any such shortage.
Or any other shortage in Germany just now.
But come to think of it, the harvest of quinces was a bit sparse this year. :)

Mr Clarke is definitely wrong here. Continental Europe does not even remotely experience these current problems that Britain has regarding the lorry/truck driver shortage, petrol stations being closed or shelves in supermarkets being empty. Sadly, Mr Clarke is obviously trying to downplay the problem.
