That's pretty cool that you could go from event to statue in under a month... I'm getting my local Congresswoman to get this picture of Adam Schiff during impeachment turned into a statue to replace a Jefferson Davis statue in my state.

I support replacing statues. Not tearing them down, though. The community should vote (at least in city council) on what to remove and what replace it with (if anything), and the removed piece transferred to a nuseum or auctioned for private collection.

We don't need statues of slave traders in public space. But we shouldn't be sanctioning hyperemotional temper tantrums and the destruction of history and culture either.

 

This new statue is deeply offensive to residents of Bristol who remember the Park St bombings, the clenched fist salute is a symbol of republican terrorism. Hopefully it will be removed and thrown in the river very soon.

 

I wouldn’t go a quarter of a mile from a BLM statue. If someone is stupid enough to harm the statue, they will be charged with a hate crime.

You could do years with a progressive judge if harm anything related to someone of color.

Indeed. I saw a bronze statue of two gays hugging an erect 6 foot dick in a courtyard and I didn’t find it offensive or care what the boys got up to in their spare time, but it wasn’t a popular statue from the looks of all the homophobic insults graffitied on it.
I suspect that it was vandalized by right wing hooligans.
